When oil is blamed, the topic of plants came up today. So did marine organisms. So oil has been found at a depth of 40,000 feet deep. We have no oceans that deep. Most of the oil found was found where we know the oceans were not ever at.
How deep is petroleum found?

The earliest year where data is available, 1949, shows the average depth of oil wells drilled was 3,500 feet. By 2008 the average rose to 6,000 feet. And the deepest well currently existing is a massive 40,000 feet deep.Nov 17, 2023

Over the last 3 billion years, the earth has been resurfaced many times.

please google "continental drift" or "subduction zone"

or are the geologists all conspiring to make the earth look older than genesis ?

plate subduction .

That's true, but the oil we drill isn't nearly that old. The oldest being from the Paleozoic, the most recently created oil being from the Cenozoic.

Still plenty of time for tectonic activity to bury what was once the surface of The Earth to great depths.

"tell us you don't know what plate tectonics is without saying you don't know what plate tectonics is."

Right. The earth is being resurfaced as we speak.

But the date of oil formation does not mean that's the date of the lifetime of the animals and plants from which it was formed.

What an amazingly absurd OP .
How old does he imagine this rock is?

Possibly he is one of those Cultists who believe God got creating 4000 years ago -- not a day before or after .

"The Deep-Earth Gas Theory." It discusses the fact that hydrocarbons have been in existence since the earliest times of the universe. They are part of the process of planetary formation. Their constituents, hydrogen and carbon, originated in the primordial soup from which Planet Earth was formed."
"Chapter 3 summarizes five fundamental assumptions regarding the deep-earth, a-biogenic sourcing of hydrocarbons. All five are supported by currently accepted science. Gold also discusses the latest space research information; much of which he discovered or proposed.

Chapter 3 reminds us that hydrocarbons are present on lifeless heavenly bodies such as moons, asteroids, and comets. They are also found on the "Gas Giants' such as Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. In fact, the blue coloration of planet Uranus is due to methane, a so-called "fossil fuel.' Gold explains,"

So, everything you were told about 'fossil fuels' is wrong and always was.

Wrong of course. While that might be a possible pathway to oil production, we have more than confirmed the oil we drill and use is generally made up from fossilized organic material from living things.

I see why you are confused. Back in 49, they didn't have the technology to drill much more than 3500 feet.

This is very interesting.. it's about the formation of the White chalk cliffs of Dover.
