I assume nothing. He says it like that, so his people will rally to it emotionally whether having and statistical relevance or not. By in large it is untrue for the vast majority of migrants, including registered immigrants and asylum seekers, entering at ports of entry, the border jumpers and swimmers, whether turning themselves in to get on the federal rolls and the ones that come across, avoiding all contact with authorities, plus the student visa overstayed, and the H1B people that get seasonal work planning to return home, but decide to stay. If you want to stay, you got to keep a low profile, not attracting attention of law enforcement. Yes, there are criminal assholes that sneak in, but the majority of the criminal do sneak in, not coming to the scrutiny of process. This is not about whether I regard any and all that come into the country illegally, should be kicked out, and banned from re-entry. I do, even if they swim the river and turn themselves in to avoid waiting in line. People that do, should be processed (not adjudicated) and summarily kicked out, as they are unworthy of living in our country if they start by breaking into the country to avoid our immigration procedures. Our home-grown criminals are different, often thinking themselves entitled, as they only get a slap on the wrist if the push to far, indeed many times openly stealing with no repercussions, some jurisdictions not even prosecuting thieves and other shoplifters, due to court costs, jail costs, police manpower constraints, etc.. It still doesn't change the fact, those are not the ones legally entering at points of entry, nor does it change the statistics of who our biggest criminal problems are (alien vs home-grown thug assholes. I am well aware some are criminals, but they are the vast minority, whether you and trump thinks so or not.

I think there should be a few thousand more in border patrol, catching more of the fence jumpers and wet back and summarily kicking them the heck out. Plus we need to vastly increase courts to handle the mess created and ongoing, to deal with the backlog of adjudicating asylum seekers (most just want to immigrate, not needing asylum), so they can be kept near the border or better, wait outside, until their case can be heard. But all of this will continue to be blocked by Republicans while Joe is in office. I have to admit though, Joe brought this on himself, with his open ended, no defined number policy, and not spending the political capital before opening us up to the world.

No. I did know that. What country were you from?
The "Stay there and wait your turn until adjudicate" was good policy. At least it was until Joe welcomed the world on day one or two. Another thing Mexico was doing, was keeping the bulk held up on their southern border. That was good of Mexico. I always figured that had something to do with the free movement of Mexican truckers, without having to comply with our regulations, but I suppose some money could have changed hands. Somebody had to be paying to keep them from starving while they were held up. I figured that was us, but I figure a thousand miles is better than a thousand feet. I never have had any idea what Joe had on his mind, killing that deal, with no plan, personnel or administrative procedures in place before inviting all comers.

The "Stay there and wait your turn until adjudicate" was good policy. At least it was until Joe welcomed the world on day one or two. Another thing Mexico was doing, was keeping the bulk held up on their southern border. That was good of Mexico. I always figured that had something to do with the free movement of Mexican truckers, without having to comply with our regulations, but I suppose some money could have changed hands. Somebody had to be paying to keep them from starving while they were held up. I figured that was us, but I figure a thousand miles is better than a thousand feet. I never have had any idea what Joe had on his mind, killing that deal, with no plan, personnel or administrative procedures in place before inviting all comers.
