How did Oil, er plants, get so very very deep?

The deepest oil well drilled was the Tiber well at a depth of over 35,000 feet.Oct 3, 2018

On 28 January 2011, Exxon Neftegas Ltd., operator of the Sakhalin-I project, drilled the world's longest extended-reach well offshore on the Russian island of Sakhalin. It has surpassed the length of both the Al Shaheen well and the Kola borehole. The Odoptu OP-11 well reached a measured total length of 12,345 m (40,502 ft) and a horizontal displacement of 11,475 m (37,648 ft). Exxon Neftegas completed the well in 60 days.[15]

On 27 August 2012, Exxon Neftegas Ltd beat its own record by completing the Z-44 Chayvo well. This ERD well reached a measured total length of 12,376 metres (40,604 ft).[16]

Length is not the same as depth.

Definitely I have. I can't name an oil well drilled as a bore hole.
Lol 😂

A borehole is a narrow shaft bored in the ground, either vertically or horizontally. A borehole may be constructed for many different purposes, including the extraction of water (drilled water well and tube well), other liquids (such as petroleum), or gases (such as natural gas).

That is a generalized term for just holes.

What I posted answered the question "What oil well is at 40,000 feet.

When oil is blamed, the topic of plants came up today. So did marine organisms. So oil has been found at a depth of 40,000 feet deep. We have no oceans that deep. Most of the oil found was found where we know the oceans were not ever at.
How deep is petroleum found?

Where Does Crude Oil Come From? And 5 Other Things You Should ...

The earliest year where data is available, 1949, shows the average depth of oil wells drilled was 3,500 feet. By 2008 the average rose to 6,000 feet. And the deepest well currently existing is a massive 40,000 feet deep.Nov 17, 2023

Oil has not been found at 40,000 feet deep.

The world's deepest oil well is often considered to be O-14 in the Chayvo field, located off the coast of Sakhalin, Russia. While it's only about 3,300 feet deep when measured by vertical drilling depth, it's 49,000 feet long due to horizontal drilling.

Just in Bore holes you say!!!

That is not very deep for an oil well. Speaking of deep, when an ocean is 40,000 feet deep do you take it as a bore hole?

You probably have seen a few old rocker pumps. Deep is down, not horizontal.
It is easy to see deep oil wells in California and thanks for admitting Deep is down and not horizontal.
