The so called "extreme" Texas abortion law disallowed abortion (with some exception like the woman's life is in danger) after 21 weeks!!! Therefore, abortion is legal for the first 21 weeks of the pregnancy!!!

You nuttier realize that is greater than FIVE (5) months right? If you haven't decided to terminate your pregnancy in 5 months what are you waiting for!

I think liberals should be able to choose retroactive self abortion at all ages.

It's their right to do what they like with their bodies.

why are people against background checks? Its not extreme but hell if they will accept it.

20 weeks is not an extreme when it comes to limiting abortion. A supermajority of Americans are opposed to abortion after the first trimester. That means a significant percentage of pro-choicers oppose abortion after the first trimester. We pro-lifers need to keep that in mind.

But...instead, we allow the extremists in our pro-life camp to fuck it all up. We let the extremists go a bridge too far. Like putting provisions of invasive vaginal ultrasounds in these 20-week bans. That not only alienates pro-choicers who stand on common ground with us, it is also a big turnoff for many pro-lifers!

Or we let the dipshits put provisions which require abortion clinics to have all the amenities of a hospital.

That's bullshit. Do we require dentists to meet the same requirements? Family practices?

No. We don't.

These kinds of provisions are literally a "dick move". Somebody with a penis being a total asshole.

And so it all blew up in the pro-lifers faces yesterday in Texas. A pro-choicer won the day and is now a demagogue.

Well done, fools.

It's time to wrest the dialogue away from the extremist idiots. We can accomplish a 20 week ban if we aren't assholes about it.

First cock-smoker this about abortion not abortion. Second, I am personally for universal background checks.

Not troll elsewhere!

Background checks?

Nevermind....

He's a bed wetter.

Background checks and ID are perfectly acceptible in order to practice a constitutional freedom....

Showing ID so that you can't fraudulently elect criminally insane sociopaths into government offices where they make arbitrary life and death decisions for millions of people????

Not an issue.

I am not pro-life, I'm pro-choice in the first trimester. However, I have become less prolife.

Law should be:
1st Trimester:
Open to all. However their should be other requirements:
  • A one week waiting period (but that period will not be used as a means fall outside the 1st trimester).
  • One ultra-sound.
  • Watch an informative video on what is going to take place. I truly believe a person about to have an abortion must be fully informed on what is going to happen.
  • Presented the alternatives of adoption.

2nd Trimester to viability (24 months):
Open to:
Woman's life in danger
Birth defects
Victims of rape or incest
Minors (in this case minor is 19 and under)

24 months and 3rd trimester:
Woman's life in danger
Victim of incest (usu young children exploited and the child has genetic issues)
Birth Defects

Why an ultrasound? Particularly since you often can't see anything unless you use that invasive vaginal ultrasound which is alienating even pro-lifers.

That requirement just comes across as vindictive.

Vindictiveness is the end result of a court making up a right where none existed. Abortion should have been left to the state legislatures. Instead you get one side protected by a bad court descion and the other side prone to nutters taking over the overall movement.

But then you have women like the Zimmerman star witness that can't put two words together...or two legs either...ya'll gots to consider da morons....

My problem is that they are trying to ban the exceptions past that 20 week time period. Things can happen that may warrant an abortion after that. They are rare, but they happen.
