How much of an "ally" is Saudi Arabia?

From the applied political pressure to keep sections of the 9-11 report that shows SA complicity in the attack....to the easily proven fact that some rich Saudis have funneled funds to finance terrorist activities.......From the reluctance shown by SA to use its military to partake in the defeat of fellow Sunnis (ISIL) in Syria and Iraq....to SA mostly closing its borders to Syrian refugees........WHO, among us, would stil label Saudi Arabia an "ally" to the west???

One of the royals got busted with 2 tons of that amphetamine popular over there. While there's literally hundreds if not thousands of members of the royal family, it's not unusal for them to be the dregs of the country living large while rank and file suffer.

Our ally? About as much as China and Russia are our allies.

The problem with talking about Saudis is the massive divide between the Saudi royals and the common people.

The Saudi royals ONLY care about keeping and increasing their massive treasures. The common people have little education gained in madras and only know what the Imams teach them - some of which is extreme Wahabism.

The biggest loyalty the Saudis and all Gulf States is to themselves - to keep their wealth and power.

And, who in the US gains? Defense contractors.

I mostly agree.......However, having spent some time in SA and made friends with some "non-royal" Saudi Bedouins, they readily admit that funds to terrorists are flowing FROM rich (and royal) Saudis, and that there is virtually NOTHING that the royal house does not know about such funding from their own relatives......Ergo, the royals either sympathize with terrorists OR they are paying "protection" money to these same terrorists.
