A Russian and an American barely escaped with their lives after the rocket bound for the space station malfunctioned. The 2nd stage failed to ignite and the rocket fell to earth. It's interesting to note that the (Russian) video shows the rocket taking off but not the malfunction. I guess it's part of the state run propaganda. All Russian rockets are grounded pending investigation so the space station might not be supplied in the near future.

Russia remains the only country who keeps transporting cosmonauts and astronauts to the outer space. And everything was going pretty successful until today. Thanks God everybody's alive and feeling well. Russia is going to investigate this accident and do her best to make sure it's not gonna happen again. Russia and NASA cooperation has been a great example how both countries can be good partners and benefit from the cooperation with each other.

You know...they shoot those rockets all the time, very few failures. They got out alive....which is more than what we can say about two of our shuttles.

Oh I'm sure the Russians had plenty of failures. They just didn't let anyone outside their people know. That was when they were the USSR.

They have lost more than one Cosmonaught.

Pretty crazy. It’s great that they surivived. I’m thinking this has to be the first time there are survivors to a malfunctioned rocket during launch.

I read four of them now ruskies got out in one piece and learn the history of Russia space exploration, some of the mishaps were grusome, worse then Apollo 1 when Gus died

The saddest thing about this whole ordeal is that the only country in the world to ever put men on the Moon now have to rely on the Russians to put our Astronauts into space. Its way past time for the US Government to actively encourage the private sector to invest heavily in space.

But if we waste money on a space program there won't be enough money left to give freebies to buy votes for certain politicians.

CHKALOVSKY AERODROME /Moscow Region/, October 12. The collision of elements during the separation of the carrier rocket’s first and second stages is the primary cause of the Soyuz-FG booster’s abortive launch, Roscosmos Executive Director for Manned Flights Sergei Krikalyov said on Friday.

"There are no final versions but the primary cause is understandable and is related to the collision of a side element making part of the first stage. A collision occurred during the separation of the first and second stages," the Roscosmos official said.

Yes & they also put the first man into space, the first satellight, the first lunar rover & the first space station.

All influenced by Polish- Russian rocket scientist Konstantin Ciolkowski.

Obama let the US become dependant on Russia to get an astronaut to the ISS. Now we have to pay Roscosmos just to get to our the space station that was funded overwhelmingly by the US taxpayers. And Obama also used NASA funds to push a radical worldwide wealth redistribution scheme.

And before that, Clinton used NASA as a piggy bank to send billions in financial aid to Russia.

If you want to know who is really in cahoots with Russia, follow the money trail.
