I have a question

Jesus was never married, neither was Paul married. Paul chose not to marry so he could be mindful of the things of God as he wished to emulate the life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Who was about His Fathers business. Not his own. Paul made it clear that it would be more difficult to have a wife but he never said it was a requirement to be a priest of the Lord. The Apostle Peter was married. I do not know what to say for Mona except that she may have seen a Hollywood movie that sought to blaspheme Christ and not realizing this mistook it for being based on biblical truth? In any case, she is mistaken.

It is thought that Paul could have been married.

Fastening the Belt of Truth - excerpt from a Sermon by William Gurnall - Christian in Complete Armor -

We have seen why sincerity is compared to the soldier's girdle or belt. Now we proceed to the other use of this girdle, which is to strengthen his loins and to fasten armor close to him. In Scripture, girding implies strength, "Thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle" ( Psalm 18: 39 )

He "weakeneth the strength of the mighty" ( Job 12:21) In this passage the Hebrew meaning is "He loosens their girdle." It is a grace which establishes and strengthens the Christian in his whole walk, on the contrary, hypocrisy weakens and unsettles the heart: "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." ( James 1: 8 )
A soul has as much of heaven's purity and incorruption as it has sincerity. "Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity" ( Ephesians 6:24 ) So, then, the strength of every grace lies in sincerity. But not only does sincerity cover all infirmities but strengthens the soul for Christian warfare.

* comment * Sincerity is therefore key in having a real relationship with Jesus Christ. God is looking upon the heart and a sincere heart is very precious to the Lord.

I have never read that in the bible. I need book, chapter and verse for that one, Chuck.

 WHAT? The condom dispenser in the men's room must have been broken then. lol.
Where on earth did you come up with that garbage?
Didn't he fuck Mary Magdalene? Were they married? Did Jesus like it? (Apparently not, he only did it once). Was God sowing his wild oats through the son he made?

Oh God. You and Da Vinci. You refuse the truth in the Bible and yet cling to the truth of fiction writer Dan Brown as gospel?

You are referring to Mary of Magdala. Who was NOT a prostitute. Was labeled a prostitute as a symbol of unclean womanhood by the Catholic church before she was venerated. She probably came from wealth. She loved the Lord, and was 1 among many women who followed, cared for, sewed for, and cooked for the whole group.

There is NOTHING to suggest that anything other than devotion to God occurred between Christ and Mary. That He kissed her on the lips is no more or less traditional than the men who kissed each other on the lips when they greeted each other is.

He made you too. Do you think He takes any satisfaction in your behavior?

If Jesus was human then you have to accept his humanity and his sexuality, as well as his relationship with Mary M.

Acts 23:6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

It is thought that marriage was the norm for Pharisees or the Sanhedrin but I would have to get more information.

There is speculation that Paul's wife left him when he became a Christian. Again, I would have to look it up.

I find no such story in the bible, Chuck. I will tell you who Paul was married to. He was married to Christ - Paul was a bride of Christ - devoted to preaching Christ Crucified - just as you should be rather than delving off into these silly geneologies of which we are warned not to wander off into. Let me quote this for you, Chuck:

It is written: As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer and not to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. They promote contraversies rather than God's work - which is by faith.

Some have wandered away from these and turned from meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently afffirm. - 1 Timothy 1: 3 - 7

On the matter of your earlier response to my quoting Scripture from the bible about obedience unto the Lord, Chuck. This morning the Lord confirmed to me that you are indeed under the law. Although this was addressing the Jews there are men today who choose to follow Christ by intellect rather than faith and some do it unconsciously which I believe is what has happpened to you and perhaps others on this board..

Go to Romans 10:1 and we will begin there:

Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and tried to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: The man who does these things will live by them. But the righteousness that is by faith said, Do not say in your heart, who will ascend into heaven? That is, to bring Christ down or Who will bring Christ up from the dead. But what does it say? That the word is near you, it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is the word of faith we are proclaiming:

If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with the heart you believe and are justified and with the mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, Anyone who trust in him will never be put to shame. - Romans 10: 1 - 11

Your responses revealed to me that you have been doing this on your own with your mind and intellect. Gods word says this:

It is written:
I will destroy the Wisdom of the wise and the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. 1 Corinthians 1: 19

If you want to do this Gods way and let God impart his righteousness to you then you do it Romans 10 way - by faith. If you insist on believing that God is not capable of having his Son live his life through you - empowering you to really walk as Jesus did - by His Spirit - then you are destined to fail. In other words, as I like to say, this is not Burger King, you don't get it your way. You get it God's way or no way at all. :eusa_angel: God loves you, Chuck, but knowledge puffeth up and if you are going to go after knowledge it will end where all acts of pride end... with a fall. Love, Jeri p.s. there is nothing wrong with being a bible scholar but please understand the men who wrote the Holy Bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit and the Scripture they recorded was God - Breathed - these men interpreted it by the Holy Spirit and therein this was not "knowledge" as men would define "knowledge' but rather divine knowledge from the Holy Ghost.

On the matter of tithing. Anyone who is tithing has put themselves under the law and therein is under a curse.

It is written:

All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the law. Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous shall live by faith. The law is based not on faith, on the contrary "the man who does these things will live by them. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. He redeemed us in order that we might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. - Galatians 3:10 - 14

How is the Believer in Jesus Christ to give to God? As they decide in their heart to give. You are not under the law. This is new testament teaching. Notice we are told specificly not to give under compulsion. Here is the scripture: It is written: 2 Corinthians 9:7.

New International Version
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

New Living Translation
You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. "For God loves a person who gives cheerfully."

English Standard Version
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

New American Standard Bible
Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

King James Bible
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Holman Christian Standard Bible
Each person should do as he has decided in his heart--not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver.

International Standard Version
Each of you must give what you have decided in your heart, not with regret or under compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.

NET Bible
Each one of you should give just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, because God loves a cheerful giver.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
Every man according to what he is in his mind and not according to grief or of compulsion, for God loves the joyful giver.

GOD'S WORD® Translation
Each of you should give whatever you have decided. You shouldn't be sorry that you gave or feel forced to give, since God loves a cheerful giver.

Jeri,

Just because it isn't written in the Bible that Paul was married doesn't mean that history stops and it didn't happen. There are a lot of things that these men saw and did which aren't written down and they will probably be happy to tell you in heaven:

John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

Jesus is teaching about the fulfillment of the law, Hobelim.

It is written:

Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets, I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commandments will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
- Matthew 5:17-20

Now watch this, Hobelim. Because you are going to see exactly what Jesus means by this:

It is written:

You have heard that it is said to the people long ago, Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgement. But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, Raca, is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, You fool! Will be in danger of the fire of hell. Matt. 5: 21 - 22

And it is written:

You have heard that is was said, Do not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already commited adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away,. It is better for you to lose part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
- Matt. 5: 27, 28 ( in other words, looking at pornographic photos will send you to hell. Don't do it. Just block those websites, people, etc. )

And it is written:

It has been said, Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce. But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adultress, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. - Matt. 5: 31, 32

And it is written:

Again you have heard that it was said to the peple long ago, Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord. But I tell you, do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head , for you cannot make even one hair white or black. Simply let your "Yes" be "Yes" and your "No" be "No". anything beyond that comes from the evil one. - Matt. 5: 33 - 37

And it is written:

You have heard that it was said, Eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth. But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
- Matt. 5: 38 - 42

And it is written:

You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil, and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even the pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
- Matt 5: 43 - 48

And it is written:

Be careful not to do your "acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as do the hypocrites in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matt 6: 1 - 4

And it is written:

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. The your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like the pagans do, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your father knows what you need before you ask him. - Matt. 6: 5 - 8

And it is written:

When you fast do not fast as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen, and your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you. - Matt. 6: 16 - 18

And it is written:

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye be good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
- Matt. 5: 6: 19 - 24 ( this one exposes the false churches & false preachers who preach for filthy lucre and fleece the sheep )

And it is written:

Therefore, I tell you do not worry for your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? Or What shall we drink? Or What shall we wear? For the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
- Matt. 5: 25 - 34

And it is written:

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Why do you look at the speck in your brother's and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, let me take that speck out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your own brother's eye. Do not give dogs what is sacred, do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. Matt. 7: 1, 2

And finally it is written:

Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! SO IN EVERYTHING, DO TO OTHERS WHAT YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO TO YOU, FOR THIS SUMS UP THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS. - JESUS
Matthew 7: 7 - 12

Why did I write all of this to you, Hobelim? Because these teachings from Jesus "sum up the Law and the Prophets! No more tithing! You are free! :eusa_angel:

Go in peace and have a God blessed day, Hobelim. Love, Jeri

The Narrow and Wide Gates

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. - Matthew 7: 13 - 14

A tree and its fruit

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit, you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit. A good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, drive out demons, and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evil doers! - Matthew 7: 15 - 23

The Vine and the Branches

It is written:

I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself, it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

I am the vine and you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I remain in him, he will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers, such branches are picked up, thrown in the fire and burned.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed the Father's commands and remain in his love.

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I have learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you to go and to bear fruit - fruit that will last.

Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name, This is my command: Love each other.

John 15: 1 - 16

You are missing the point, brother. When we do not heed the warnings in scripture we fall into trouble. Paul warns us not to wander off into geneologies and myths with good reason. It takes us off course. We are to preach Christ Crucified.

How much time do you believe we have left before America falls even as Constantinople fell? Do you know what the church was discussing prior to the fall of Constantinople? Whether a fly that falls into holy water defiles it or the fly becomes sanctified by the holy water. Let us not make the same foolish mistakes, Chuck. This work is for the LORD. Let us do all things to the Glory of God. He is Worthy.

The devil guards the gates of hell. The angel guards the gates of heaven.

You know (it's a fact) that the devil always lies.

You know (it's a fact) that the angel always tells the truth.

The gates they guard look exactly the same.

The angel and the devil look and sound exactly the same.

When you die you appear before them. You are called upon to decide WHICH gate you select. Whichever gate you select, that's where you will spend the rest of eternity: either in heaven or in hell.

To assist you in your selection, you are permitted to ask ONE or the other of them (and you simply do not know which one is which) one question. One question only.

What question do you ask?

If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away,. It is better for you to lose part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. ....

- Matt. 5: 25 - 34
....

Why did I write all of this to you, Hobelim? Because these teachings from Jesus "sum up the Law and the Prophets! No more tithing! You are free! :eusa_angel:

Go in peace and have a God blessed day, Hobelim. Love, Jeri

I will assume that you have just been misled and are suffering the ill effects of an unrestricted mental diet.

To fulfill the law is to comply with its demands. Jesus fulfilled the law by teaching and demonstrating the right way to understand everything about the law from what you eat and what you wear and how to understand and apply the command that inspires the use of tefillin and phylacteries to ritual slaughter revealing and leading people to the sanctuary of God, (which is not about any man made temple), and the fulfillment of the promised eternal life.

What became obsolete about the law after the revelation from God was given through Jesus, a man, was the compulsory literal interpretation and application of the law, not the law itself, that had become a thousand year tradition after the people turned aside from the way Moses taught to follow the law as he predicted would happen immediately after his death. Deuteronomy 31:29

So in this light it becomes clear that when Jesus said that just thinking about another woman amounts to adultery he was pointing out the absurdity, hypocrisy, and evil of punishing people for doing what everyone was thinking about when according to the deeper implications and the teachings of Jesus and the prophets the subject of adultery is not about sex outside of marriage but infidelity to God such as by worshiping a false roman edible trinity. That's why when Jesus said he who is without sin, (not just any sin but the exact same one), let him cast the first stone., they all walked away because they were all guilty of the exact same sin of adultery that they wanted to execute the woman for.

So if I were you I would be careful about you go around saying in Gods name. By condemning others for their sexual preferences you may be only condemning yourself. And if you are teaching others to defy the command to not worship false Gods by teaching others that Jesus is God, or that God is a trinity you are not only guilty of false witness but adultery and murder since death is the consequence for anyone unfortunate and gullible enough to swallow such vile and contaminating flesh in violation of Kosher law..

If you have been misled by the poison of serpents and really are sincerely seeking truth and life you will repent and come out of your demon infested grave, stand up on your own two feet and walk like a creature worthy of life.

That is incorrect. In fact tithing promises a blessing not a curse. You are free not to but blessed if you do. Here is what Christ said about it:

◄ Matthew 23:23 ► "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
They were under the law and tithed, but incorrectly. We are not under the law and have the option of tithing or not.

Tithing is a first fruit offering. To honor God. And He promises to honor us in return with cups that overflow. I love blessings in abundance.
If anyone out there is having trouble making ends meet, research tithing and put God to the test. Right off the top. The first of your increase. You'll be amazed at the change in your circumstances. The act comes with a guarantee, God said, "Test me on this......" He'll prove to you who He is.

And keep in mind, tithing and charity are two completely different things. Remember to do one while on your way to do the other.
New Testament Christ's first fruit offering were the saints that appeared in the city and were taken by Christ to the Father. Christ is God's first fruit offering of the dead to everlasting life. There is no curse for tithing.

By the same token, not tithing has no effect on your salvation. That falls under the category of Christ's obedience (not ours). Your salvation is secure if you keep your eye on and put your faith in Christ's righteous and not your own:

Romans 10:2-4 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Here is another OT law that we are not obligated to fulfill and yet benefit from it if we do.
"Honor thy mother and father." It is the only commandment that comes with a blessing. Keep it and God will lengthen your days. There is no curse attached, just blessing.
It is why John lived to such a ripe old age. Christ put John in charge of caring for Christ's mother, Mary. Another Old Testament law which reaps a New Testament blessing. :eusa_angel:

That's why Jesus said that Satan was a murderer from the beginning, showing that the command to not murder is about not misleading others to defy the commands of God whose promised result is death, not physical death, since Adam and Eve continued to live physical lives, but the type of death that you so perfectly display by your inability to acknowledge or repent of the obvious evil of perpetuating falsehood in the name of God.

Thank you for helping me to show the wisdom of God in giving the command to refrain from the flesh of serpents and for so generously demonstrating the terrifying consequences for disobedience.

"He who sets aside even the least of the Laws demands and teaches others to do the same will have the lowest place in the kingdom of Heaven." matthew 5:19

To understand what Jesus meant by saying 'the lowest place', see Genesis 3:14

It is better for you to lose part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. ....

You are mistaken, Hobelim. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law. Jesus is the Son of God, your Jewish Messiah and although you may not recognize him now? You will! Furthermore, The Father, Son and Holy Ghost are not 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 but rather
1 x 1 x 1 = 1 Hear O Israel the Lord thy God is One. Many of the Jewish Leaders who heard Jesus did believe he was who he said he was, Hobelim. They just desired the praises of men more than the praises of God. They were also afraid they would be thrown out of the synagogues.

It is written:

Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue, for they loved the praise from men more than the praise from God.
- John 12:42,43
