I like Gorsuch........I hope he doesn't get the job

Once again...Barack Obama was given two liberal judges to mark his time in office...you on the left now refuse to give Donald Trump one because you feel "cheated" because Obama wasn't given the chance to name a third!

What's amusing about all this posturing now by the left is that very few of you screamed from the rooftops when Garland wasn't confirmed because you all believed that Hillary Clinton would be the next President of the United States and that SHE would be choosing not only Scalia's replacement but probably Ginsberg's replacement as well! A funny thing happened on the way to that result however...didn't it?

Obama was only allowed three years out of a four year term to appoint justices. A 25% cut
If you can cut 25% why not 100%?

Why not give Trump the same thing that Obama was given?

Oh, that's right...you're a progressive...one of those "do as I say...not as I do" kind of people!

What was Obama given?

3/4 of a term?

What was Trump given? 3/4 of a month?

Like I said earlier...give Trump the same thing that Obama was given!

The day of Obama's inauguration, the republicans had a meeting where they agreed they would oppose everything Obama did. No matter what it was, No matter if it helped or hurt the country to do so. They agreed to oppose his every effort in every case. Their main stated goal was to make Obama a one term president. Is that the same thing you are talking about?

Now you've changed the rules, Winger! I pointed out that Republicans let Barack Obama name two Supreme Court Justices early in his terms without delaying tactics like the Democrats are now employing and asked why the Democrats won't extend the same courtesy to Donald Trump. You didn't have a valid response to that observation...so you've decided to insert a new rule into the equation...that Presidents should only be allowed to fill vacancies that occur in their term? So what happens if a Supreme Court Justice dies in the last few weeks of a President's time in office? The next President doesn't get to fill the vacancy? When Joe Biden stood up in the Senate all those years ago and gave his opinion that Ronald Reagan shouldn't be able to fill a vacancy if it occurred late in his time in office he was staking out a position that is the polar opposite of what he's NOW advocating! That's what Mitch McConnell pointed out when he invoked the "Biden Rule".

Once again...you on the left didn't fight hard for Garland because you all thought Hillary was a sure thing in the coming election and that SHE would be the one naming the Supreme Court Justice to replace Scalia! You're all just butt hurt now because that scenario blew up in your faces when the "impossible" happened and Hillary lost! You lost the game...now you're demanding that the rules be changed.

A President should be allowed to fill ALL the vacancies that occur in his term

If Gorsuch were filling a vacancy during Trumps term, I would support his nomination. He seems like a straight shooter, with strong values, even if they are conservative

But since he is filling a vacancy that occurred during Obama's term, I urge Democrats to take every available action to block filling the vacancy

.

Ah, The Biden Rule. Sure as hell sucks when it doesn't work in your favor.

Riiiiight.... But we all know it will suddenly exist again if a justice dies during President Trump's last year.

On other words you're a partisan hack toeing the party line.

Then you fools wonder why you're out of power
Not for long.

Miers wasn't opposed as an election year vacancy - she was outright unqualified, even Bush's own party couldn't support her.

Not according to Joe Biden thirty some years ago! He stated that Ronald Reagan shouldn't be allowed to put a new Supreme Court Justice on the court if a vacancy occurred late in Reagan's term in office...that the voice of the voters should be heard.

So what's happened since then? Quite obviously...it's a Democrat that wasn't allowed to appoint a new Justice late in his term rather than a Republican...which simply highlights how hypocritical you on the left have become!

You're taking it completely out of context. Biden's remark was an effort to prevent the politicizing of naming a SC justice. He didn't want a political campaign and the naming of a judge to happen at the same time because it would cause mistrust of the process. He only wanted to keep the naming of a judge on a non political basis. Look at the context

Seriously? You think what the Democrats are doing now is "non political"? Neil Gorsuch has one of the highest ratings of any judge working in our judicial system and comes highly recommended by not only conservatives in the legal profession but also liberals who have worked with him in the past. He's breezed through his confirmation hearings. This is nothing BUT a political move by the far left! They lost the election and now they refuse to allow the GOP winner to seat a Justice. You mean the "kind of crap" that's going on now? Donald Trump had ZERO to do with Barack Obama not being able to name a third Supreme Court Justice...that was between Barry and Mitch McConnell.

Donald Trump is the legally elected President of the United States and one of his DUTIES is to nominate Justices to the Supreme Court. He's chosen a very competent man to fill that open slot...one that comes highly recommended by not only conservatives but also liberals that Gorsuch has worked with in the past but Chuck Shumer won't seat him purely because of partisan politics!

Have you listened to the confirmation hearings? Democrats have struggled to come up with anything negative on the man. He's a great pick and they KNOW it!

Trump's choice of SC nominee was 100% politically motivated. He had and would have kept 0% support from main stream republicans, until he released his list of potential choices. That is the kind of political football that Biden was trying to prevent the SC nominee from becoming, That's why he only said to wait until after the election instead of wait until after the next president was inaugurated.
