I guess we are supposed to forget that Trump was president. And we are supposed to forget how he performed in similar instances as this hurricane. It took Puerto Rico years to get the money they needed and Trump was running his mouth about what they owed. He would rush help to red states while delaying aid to blue states. Then we have COVID, a massive fail that left 500,000 dead and 25 million infected with many dying as Trump left office. Trump and his cult need to STFU about how Biden in handling this disaster because Trump showed us that he would be worse

Trump Hesitated To Grant Disaster Aid To Blue States, Report Says

As president, Donald Trump wavered on decisions to grant federal disaster aid to states where he believed fewer people supported him, according to a new report from Politico that cites interviews with two former Trump administration officials.

One of the officials was Mark Harvey, who served on the National Security Council as senior director of resilience policy. He told the outlet that Trump initially did not want to send the Federal Emergency Management Agency to Southern California amid the devastating wildfires there in 2018.

Trump Refused to Approve Wildfire Aid Until He Learned Affected Areas Were MAGA: Report

As the death toll from Hurricane Helene surpasses 200 people and the Southeast continues to reel from the disaster, Donald Trump is working overtime to politicize the tragedy into an attack against his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Despite governors from both political parties lauding of the Biden administration's response, Trump is insisting the federal government has abandoned affected communities.

Earlier this week, Trump baselessly claimed that "the Federal Government, and the Democrat Governor of [North Carolina are] going out of their way to not help people in Republican areas," ahead of a visit to a disaster zone in Valdosta, Georgia. But for all of the former president's posturing as a capable leader who would better handle the crisis, his record in the White House says otherwise.

According to a Thursday report from E&E News, in 2018 - as wildfires ravaged large swaths of California - Trump initially refused to approve aid to the state because he felt some of the affected regions didn't like him enough.

New probe confirms Trump officials blocked Puerto Rico from receiving hurricane aid

The administration of former President Donald Trump obstructed an investigation looking into why officials withheld about $20 billion in hurricane relief for Puerto Rico following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, one of the deadliest U.S. natural disasters in over 100 years, a new report says.

A Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General report made public Thursday also found that tensions between the department and the Office of Management and Budget resulted in unprecedented procedural hurdles that produced delays in the disbursement of the congressionally approved funds.

Biden administration lifts Trump-era restrictions stalling Puerto Rico hurricane aid

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development removed restrictions unique to Puerto Rico that had been limiting the island's ability to access certain recovery funds following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, the agency announced Monday.

The agency also unlocked access to $8.2 billion in Community Development Block Grant Mitigation funds to help the island build resiliency against future disasters. The aid was previously approved by Congress in 2018.

These actions come as the administration of President Joe Biden attempts to ease tensions between the federal government and the U.S. territory after former President Donald Trump repeatedly opposed disaster funding for Puerto Rico while disputing and failing to acknowledge Maria's death toll.

They were going to send Biden for a photo op but figured a 40 mph gust of wind would take him away
You guys choose to ignore the terrible job Trump did handling disasters like this as president.

You are the one that needs to STFU. The Democrats stole FEMA money to import and support illegal immigrants.

Trump started a go fund me account where he started it with 2 million dollars of his own money... Kamala wants to just do puff piece interviews....
Trump didn't put 2 million of his own money into anything and by the time he started that go fundme page Biden had sent all kinds of resources where needed. I posted some of what Trump did as president. He failed at handling these kinds of disasters.

Trump isn't president and start dealing with the present. People need help. The response is a disaster
Here we comes the cult and their excuses.

Trump was president. And:

Trump is running his mouth as a presidential candidate therefore we willl look at his record in similar situtaions. Right now in the present Biden is doing his job nd the governors of those states are saying as much. The response is no disaster. Stop reading that right wing bullshit

Former President Donald Trump criticized the Biden administration’s response to the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, even as his supporters have called for cuts to federal agencies that warn of weather disasters and deliver relief to hard-hit communities.

As president, Trump delayed disaster aid for hurricane-devastated Puerto Rico and diverted money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in order to finance an effort to return undocumented migrants to Mexico. And Project 2025, backed by Trump supporters, would restructure FEMA to limit aid to states and says that the National Weather Service, which provides crucial data on hurricanes and other storms, “should be broken up and downsized.”

Trump claimed without evidence Monday that the Biden administration and North Carolina's Democratic governor were “going out of their way to not help people in Republican areas.” And Trump adviser Stephen Miller said President Joe Biden “failed to evacuate or rescue” U.S. citizens, “just like you failed in Afghanistan.''

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said officials have rescued and supported more than 1,400 people in areas impacted by the storm.

"This is what they do,″ she said, referring to rescue efforts by FEMA and other federal agencies.

“It doesn’t matter which state it is. It doesn’t matter if it’s a red state or blue state,'' Jean-Pierre said Monday. "This is their job — to get food there, to get generators there, to save some lives, to rescue people. And so we are very proud of the work that they’ve done.″

Biden has approved major disaster declarations for Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina, allowing survivors to access funds and resources to jumpstart their recovery immediately. FEMA and other federal agencies, along with private businesses and nonprofit and faith-based organizations, are responding to the disaster in at least seven states, from Florida to Virginia.
