I don't know what kind of American groups display the iron cross for whatever reasons, but when someone is showing it in Germany today, it's usually a pretty clear indication it's a Nazi.

Because the Nazi flag with swastika is illegal here except for educational purposes, Nazis usually fly the black-white-red German Reich war flag with the iron cross at rallies.
