Republicans are for freedom, but only if it fits their ideology.

BOISE -- Legislators in Idaho's Republican-dominated House want the Federal Communications Commission to crack down on television programs that portray premarital sex.

The measure approved 57-13 Tuesday urges the FCC to enforce "standards of decency" in TV programming some proponents equate to immoral behavior.

Republican Rep. Darrell Bolz of Caldwell said the resolution doesn't request any new FCC regulations. But he says it simply asks the agency to get back to promoting standards already spelled out in law.

Boise Democrat Grant Burgoyne argued against the measure, saying he thinks current FCC standards already serve as a hindrance to free speech.

He argued that efforts to limit broadcasters from portraying unwed individuals engaging in sexual activity could amount to censorship.

The resolution now moves to the Senate.

Goodbye soap operas.

Being against the promotion of immoraity isn't being against free speech.

Promoting licentiousness is not protected free speech.

Libertarians are not libertines.

So, all the actors have to be married? How would we know? Isn't just a story, anyway?

What about pre-war violence?

What about actors who play police, but aren't?

What about the first amendment?

Does this mean he is a right wing extremist?

Premaritial sex on TV is an attack on our Constitution! It is seditious, treasonous, communistic, and rots your teeth! We have every right to lock these people up. The First Amendment demands it! These bastards are trying to establish a godless religion.

these idiots be it Democrat or Republican suggest crap like this all the time

whether it goes anywhere is another thing

Well, welcome to the club. The is no Bible reading or open prayer or Creationism or Intelligent Design expressed in public schools --- rarely on TV for that matter. What happened to the 2nd Amendment?

They have problems if one nipple shows on TV but not a peep when CSI shows show bullets tearing through bodies. BTW, neither bothers me in the least.

It seems reasonable when you take the left wing hysteria out of it. The Idaho state people propose no new FCC regulations, only enforcement of the regulations already on the books. Kinda like gun control.

Amen, brother.

Yes. I remember Chuck Norris being quoted as saying something about he had no problem with his children seeing very violent films, but he did not allow them or want them to see an sex in films. Funny. Very funny. :cuckoo:
