If Omar's people want to live under The Law, then they should stone her.

God then retorts that he is their king, and then warned off a list of abuses that would occur if they continued down that path, but if they so chose, they could have their human king. The people still demanded their king despite the warning, so God gave them Saul.

God then gave them a rather chilling additional warning that once they began to endure the abuses he warned them about, he would not heed their calls for relief from those abuses.

From that day forward it was a spiral down the drain for the Hebrew nation until scattered around the globe until they found themselves in the ovens of Nazi Germany.
