Can you tell me when the US has never had multiple cultures?

We've never had multiple cultures. America is a uniquely wonderful culture in itself. Now with that said, we have a diversity of people from different cultural backgrounds like no other country. But, when here, you are an American.

The problem is many coming here don't want to assimilate... they want to setup their little cultural enclaves where they won;t speak English, they want to be taught in a foreign language, etc., etc.
