That's the current conservative position on climate change (global warming), isn't it? That's it's all made up somehow?

Or is this massive heat wave a harbinger of things to come? Maybe we're looking at the new normal. Maybe we'll one day look back fondly when the temperature only topped out at 105 degrees.

I've included a poll question. Please note that the question is different from the subject line.

"Climate Change"? Of course! That's been happening for Billions of years.

"Global Warming"? No, that's just a sophisticated method of separating you from your money. Pure Snake Oil.

I'm trying to remember the last time (if ever) that I've seen a heat wave that lasted this long over such a large area, especially seeing as how it doesn't appear to be cooling down at night.

No more so than the gazillions of other heat waves over the course of the last 4,500,000,000 years.

Oh, it's the end of the world allright.

1995. in NE Wisconsin I suffered through 21 days of straight 90/90's. That was the longest stretch of those temps though it only broke records on a few days because it WAS in July and August!

That winter in January 96 we had 20 days of -10 degree temps. That was the high mind you. The air was so damn cold it felt like water, and I worked outside in it.

that's from personal memory though.

In Illinois during July 1936 (most of Midwest was under this heat wave) here are some facts from selected cities:
Charleston - The mean temperature in Charleston for the month was 84.7 and the average high was 99! The 14th and the 15th both reached 110, which stands as the highest the city has reached to this day. 15 days were above 100 F and from the 6 to the 15th highs were above 105.

Danville - The average high temperature for July was 98.8 and the daily mean temperature of 82.1. On the 14th, the heat wave peaked at 112, which is the all time record. 15 days were above 100 F and 3 days had temperatures above 110.

Decatur - 17 days were above 100 degrees in July of 1936 including everyday from the 4th through the 17th. The average high for the month ended up at 98.9 and the mean temperature was 84.1. The highest temperature was 110 on the 14th, which stands as the second highest temperature.

Jacksonville - The average high temperature was 100 degrees for July of 1936 and the mean temperature was 84. The heat peaked on the 14th when the temperature reached 111, which is the 3rd highest for the city of Jacksonville. From the 4th to the 17th everyday was above 100 and 18 total days were above 100 for the month.

Lincoln - 17 days in Lincoln had a high temperature of 100 in July of 1936 and the average high temperature was 100.1. The daily mean temperature was 85.1. The heat peaked on the 15th when the temperature got to 113. That still stands as the all time record. Highs were at or above 100 from the 4 through the 17th and there were also 4 straight days of 110 or higher from the 12th through the 15th.

Palestine - The average temperature for the month of July in Palestine was 85 degrees and the average high was 99.2. 14 days were above 100 and on the 14th the mercury jumped to 112, which stood as the all time record until 7/14/54. From July 6th through the 15th the highs were at least 105.

Springfield - The average high for July in 1936 was 98.3 degrees and the average temperature was 86.2. On the 10th, the temperature peaked at 110 and 17 days were spent above 100. Highs were above 100 from the 4th through the 15th. On top of that, nighttime didn't provide much relief. Overnight lows were at or above 80 from July 7th to the 14th. 30 people in Springfield died as a direct result of the heat and the heat contributed to 20 other deaths.

Urbana - The average high in Urbana was 95.9 and the average temperature was 83. On the 14th, the mercury rose to 108, which stands as the second highest on record. 13 days were spent with highs at or above 100.

Windsor - The average high in Windsor during the heat wave was 98 and 14 days were at or above 100. Highs would be above 100 from the 5th through the 15th. On the 14th, the temperature jumped all the way to 111, the highest for the city. The city would average a temperature of 83.9 for the month.

It doesn't matter what the weather it's global warming isn't it? How old are you and are you a meteorologist? You're basing this off of what you remember

Let me ask you this: when in history has the climate been constant?

"The Little Ice Age (LIA) was a period of cooling that occurred after the Medieval Warm Period ...a period extending from the 16th to the 19th centuries" Little Ice Age - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What caused the Little Ice Age, and what caused it to stop?

Wow, we just went through a long cold winter and I thought for sure an ice age was coming. Now bam, hot summer we're back to global warming. How am I supposed to keep up with this?

Actually the truth is the position is questioning how much of it is man made, and how much we can do to fix it when countries like India and China will replace any emissions we may eliminate and then some.

Only a tiny fringe group of people maintain that climate change is not happening at all.

But since when have you guys let something like facts get in the way of your agenda.

What the fuck is wrong with you??

Are you trying to assert that heatwaves are somehow a new thing???

No one has EVER argued that the climate doesn't change dummy - they argue that man has absolutely NOTHING to do with it....

Real science suggests that man has absolutely nothing to do with it, the counter claim made by - may I remind you who have blatant history of activists on behalf of socialism, globalism and those who hate humans but call themselves "environmentalists" claim it does.

Now those who have a socioeconomic or political agenda such as the aforementioned crackpot extremists have been caught red handed manipulating data to further their agenda..

So I believe I will side with the geological evidence and say "climate change" is absolutely natural and man has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I'll go even further and say that those who use environmentalism as a cloak for their socialist agenda are destroying the environment given their actions to stop whats only natural.

How do you achieve socialism? you tell everyone they will die if they don't do as they're told.

Yeah, you'll all die if progressives don't make businesses buy carbon credits from (or send money to) to non-industrialized nations..

Yeah, you will all die if progressives don't allow government to regulate and tax businesses so they can generate more revenue to redistribute via social entitlements.

Yeah you're all going to die if progressives cant hire union contractors to put up gigantic wind turbines.

Actually whether the earth is undergoing any significant or long term warming is very much in question. Personally I am with you in that I'd like to take reasonable precautions just in case. But the left has decided that socialism will cure global warming. If we transfer trillions of dollars to poor countries, bam, global warming solved. If government controls research and micromanages the economy, bam, global warming solved.

Meanwhile, the left champion of global warming, Al NutJob Gore uses Global Warming as a partisan political hammer to elect Democrats. Democrats hysterically block the only viable zero emission technology, nuclear. And they scream like teenage girls who lost their cellphone when gas or energy prices go up (at least when a Republican is in the White House). In fact higher gas prices are what would spur technology and behavior changes.

So you can go on a rant like this if you want, but the liberal cure is worse then the disease. Convince them to change or the rest of us that socialism will cure it, your choice. Until then, this is what you're going to hear.

A tiny fringe group? Only one GOP presidential candidate has said they believe in man-made global warming. 48% of Americans, in a recent Gallup Poll, believe concerns over man-made global warming is highly exaggerated Americans' Global Warming Concerns Continue to Drop

"World temperatures did not rise from 1998 to 2008, while manmade emissions of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuel grew by nearly a third, various data show." Asia pollution blamed for halt in warming: study | Reuters

Don't give in to this bull... Climate gate proved beyond a doubt that suppression of scientific data contrary to the environmental-religious zealots dogma. Many well known and respected scientists have come out against this politically motivated far-left environmental hoax.

Al Gore refused to debate the found of the Weather Channel, a man that has done much to dispel to provable flawed science behind his power point presentation.

A fringe group!?!?! Just join the other side!!!!!!!

Did you even read the title of the link you posted? Limbaugh was pointing out the stupidity of saying something like it was 116 in Washington DC, when it wasn't it was 95 degrees F. He wasn't saying there wasn't a heat wave, and neither did it say that in your link.

He was responding to this article Shock forecast: NOAA predicts heat index of 116 in Washington, D.C. Friday - Capital Weather Gang - The Washington Post

And yes I too believe it is profoundly stupid to say it's 116 when in reality that is some contrived number, a subjective number based on how someone 'feels'. It feels how the temperature is.

Try reading things before you post.
