Is "Water" a Human Right?

Is "Water" a Human Right? The Constitution protects the "General Welfare". I've heard 101 thing's that don't apply to that "General Welfare of People" ruling that we can't ask our ancestors about...........but NOTHING is more "General Welfare" than water. I can live without everything else longer.

Guns are a freedom. But water isn't, because no one in their right mind ever thought it would be necessary....
Water may be a right, but purified water isn't. You have tto pay for it.

By "Purified" do you mean water that has been purified after oil fracking or just regular purified water?

Are you saying, "Just give them swamp water, let the bacteria get them" or are you stating something else.

The founders are dead. The people seem to be having a hard time deciphering what they stated. Just like all old books, everyone tends to decipher them in different ways and all think they are correct.

Exactly. They base their decision on the criteria of how they interpret historical documents. At least on the surface.

It is obvious that they ar basing their interpretation on apriori unstated criteria, even unstated apriori decisions a to what are right. Then they interpret documents to suit their decisions.

You will notice that this process has a unique characteristic in that their definitions always benefit themselve over others.

You can state that as a hypothesis with instrumuntal definitions and measures.

The founders simply had common sense. Today's politics get's over complicated. We are a Christian based Country even if it isn't in the Constitution. Do you think our founders wanted to charge for water or bathrooms?

It depend. We currently have a population that streses our water supply. There are people who, simply if they can, will steal and hoard. This behavior fails the symetery test.

Among other things, money are transferable negociable contracts that afford the bearer some quantity of those scarce resources. It is the contract that embodies the right to have water.

Water is the most abundant resource on the planet......

Watching AMERICANS try to cut off other AMERICANS from water shows a flaw in "We The People"

Actually, fresh water isn't all that abundant since corporations began buying it up. While desalinization is possible, it's cost-inefficient so only done when there's no other choice. But fresh drinkable water in aquifers and lakes is becomming quite a scarce commodity.

They'll be selling air next. :)

Water that flushes your turds down the toilet to a sewer which is ultimately purified by a capitalist business owner.

Anything we decide is a right, is a right. We can certainly put forth criteria upon which we will base that determination.

Nice vague post...

So tell me.

Is water a right?

vs.

Is gun ownership a right?

You have the right to own water just like you have a right to own a gun. This does not mean that others have to supply either to you. That being said most people will give you a drink of water if you ask nicely. Many public buildings have water fountains.

"It depend. We currently have a population that streses our water supply. " Holy sheeple batman! Fox News can sing and the mockingbirds!

How is the most abundant resource on the planet "stressed" there guy. Next we will be selling Air and someone will say the exact same thing. "But we have a population that stresses our air supply"

I'm saying if you want purified water you pay for it. It's not a right. Swamp water is free.

I went fishing with my brother on his boat yesterday. There was plenty of fresh water where we were.

I made my last post and came back to read this.....both called the "air" issue.

But I disagree, water is still abundant. It's simply a measure of how we get it. Aquifers are awesome but we are fighting against that today.

Are you stating that capitalists decided my turd water had to be purified?

Because Socialists like Jacque Fresco make designs where excess water from the sink and shower fill up the toilet bowl.

I'm not fighting for Socialism, I'm just educated on the perspective.

If you drink that water, will it be in your general welfare to do so?

Going to bed. Can't wait to hear what the generally poor rabid Fox News junkies will say next, but I have to get sleep.

They will keep fighting for profit over humanity. Basics.

Been swimming in a fresh water lake many times. I've inadvertently drank lake water several times without it making me sick. That being said, I would scoop it up with a cup an drink it on purpose.

Edit: I meant to say I would not drink the water on purpose.

It makes perfect sense to regulate water. That is how we assure equal use.

wrong. What does it even mean to "assure equal use?"

wrong. What does it even mean to "assure equal use?"

Meaning you have just as much access to it as anyone else. Your home and in public. Imagine what would happen if it was not regulated. With no legal ramifications, people would try to monopolize it. Militias could form to steal it and leave you with nothing. What would be their consequences? What force would bring them to justice?

Article 5, Declaration of Human Rights

No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

Needing water to live and having water kept from you would be considered torture, cruel and inhuman punishment would it not?
