:clap2:

Every year thousands of Palestinian patients from Gaza and the West Bank are treated in Israeli hospitals across the country. Patients also come from many Arab countries, some of which still don't even recognize Israel.

When a young Palestinian from the Gaza Strip was shot in the leg last year by Hamas during the ongoing conflict between the two main Palestinian political parties, Hamas and Fatah, he was offered treatment in both Egypt and Jordan, but instead he chose to go to Israel: "When I was injured I chose to come to Israel because it's well known that the treatment here is better than in Egypt - by a lot - or in Gaza. I had to have a microsurgery to replace a tendon in my foot, and I knew this was the best place to do it. He insisted that his identity be hidden, for fear of repercussions from Hamas."

Rokon Asadi, Medical Rep. for Arab Community:

All politics aside, Israel has a very good reputation in the world for medicine. There are many, many people who want to be treated by Israel. It just doesn’t matter to them that it's Israel. There would be many more patients coming from Persian countries, Arab and neighboring countries, if there wasn’t such difficulty getting their visas

Leave it to Israel to save the lives of Palestinians so they get well to kill more Israeli's.

Leave it to Israel to save the lives of Palestinians so they get well to kill more Israeli's.

The dirty little secret is Fatah and Hamas "VIPS" with Israeli passes in order to have Israeli medical treatment, while their own people often are banned from doing so. Pallies with cancer seeking advanced cancer treatment in Israel have been left to die by their own governments who do not want Israel to receive a positive public image in the region

Israeli hospitals are the best ones in the region, of course they would want to go there.

Israeli hospitals are among the finest in the world. The late Christopher Reeves traveled to Israel for advanced medical treatment...

His continuing frustration with the pace of research into spinal cord injuries in the United States led Christopher Reeves to look abroad. In late Summer, he was invited to Israel, a country at the forefront of research into spinal injury. He made the 5000 mile journey.

"This is a trip I really, really want to make because to be in Israel with people who have suffered spinal cord injuries because of violence and to be there and to show support, that's a privilege, it really is. It's an extraordinary statistic that there are more spinal cord injuries per capita in Israel than any other country in the world."

"Israel also has very, very proactive rehab facilities, excellent medical schools and teaching hospitals and an absolutely first-rate research infrastructure."

"The research progresses more rapidly in Israel than almost anywhere else I can think of. The decision they made about stem cells where they had a debate and decided that secular law must prevail over religious teachings is something we need to learn in the United States. I'm very much focused on where we are today, on breakthroughs in science and living in the moment. I'm really glad I'm in that place."

Israel also has a darker side when it comes to people seeking medical treatment in Israel...

...they arrest them!

Israel’s policy of arresting patients and those who escort them, using their need to enter Israel for medical treatment.

PHR Israel wishes to alert a continuation of Israel’s policy of arresting patients and those who escort them, using their need to enter Israel for medical treatment.

For several years PHR Israel witnessed the abuse of Palestinian Patients by the Israel Security Agency (Shabac): they are told that a permit is waiting for them at Erez Crossing, or are invited for an “interview” on which they are told their permit depends. Once they reach the crossing they are arrested or harshly interrogated
