He was not just a great musician. He also recognized the dangers of unlimited government run by criminals...exactly what we have today.I play that on piano! Great song!!Don't forget his contribution to the N.R.A.; "Happiness is a Warm Gun".
John Lennon Was Right: The Government Is Run by Maniacs for Maniacal Means
āYou gotta remember, establishment, itās just a name for evil. The monster doesnāt care whether it kills all the students or whether thereās a revolution. Itās not thinking logically, itās out of control.āāJohn Lennon (1969)
āThe people have the power, all we have to do is awaken that power in the people,ā concluded Lennon. āThe people are unaware. Theyāre not educated to realize that they have power. The system is so geared that everyone believes the government will fix everything. We are the government.ā
āIf everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then thereād be peace.ā
āProduce your own dream. If you want to save Peru, go save Peru. Itās quite possible to do anything, but not to put it on the leadersā¦.You have to do it yourself.ā
āPeace is not something you wish for; Itās something you make, Something you do, Something you are, And something you give away.ā
āSay you want a revolution / We better get on right away / Well you get on your feet / And out on the street / Singing power to the people.ā
āIf you want peace, you wonāt get it with violence.ā
For the moment, the choice is still ours: slavery or freedom, war or peace, death or life.
The point at which we have no choice is the point at which the monstersāthe maniacs, the powers-that-be, the Deep Stateāwin.
As Lennon warned, āYou either get tired fighting for peace, or you die.ā
Because he never refrained from speaking truth to power, Lennon became a prime example of the lengths to which the U.S. government will go to persecute those who dare to challenge its authority.
Lennon was the subject of a four-year campaign of surveillance and harassment by the U.S. government (spearheaded by FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover), in an attempt by President Richard Nixon to have him āneutralizedā and deported. As Adam Cohen of the New York Times points out, āThe F.B.I.ās surveillance of Lennon is a reminder of how easily domestic spying can become unmoored from any legitimate law enforcement purpose. What is more surprising, and ultimately more unsettling, is the degree to which the surveillance turns out to have been intertwined with electoral politics.ā
