Boris Johnson to seek general election again on Monday
Boris Johnson will seek to trigger an election again on Monday, daring Labour not to back the motion after the no-deal bill has been made law.
The leader of the House of Commons, Jacob Rees-Mogg, said the government would seek to bring the same motion back and that parliament would not be prorogued until the bill had received royal assent.
So last night the government in the Lords agreed to drop its filibuster against the no deal blocking bill. This will now become law.
The reason for doing so becomes clear today when they announce that they are going to try and push for an election again on monday. This despite having lost a vote on this only yesterday.
Their reasoning is that with the blocking bill in place there is no reason to put off an election. This is schoolyard politics. Having routed these chimps several times this week why should the good guys allow Johnson to set a timetable?
