It is not fair to other kids or parent(s) that don't read to their kids if you try to get your family a head start. People actually believe this and some politicians see this as viable. It's like saying it's not fair to teach your kid to change the oil in their car because other people don't bother, How did we get so screwed up and where will it end? Is having a loving family an unfair advantage? - ABC listen

I can't imagine anyone believes that. I can imagine people feel we should offer extra help to those kids who don't learn to change their oil from their family.

2015 so it's hardly "Newthink" whatever that is supposed to mean. And it's the opinion of one person.

It' also leads to other problems when the excuse for not achieving is that other kids have better families, and it's not our fault. The thinking is that the government can manage kids better than parents, a race to the bottom, like cutting off the legs of a table until it finally rests on the top but they are all equal. Yes, they believe this. That is when in the kids suspicion then distrust turns to hate when you not only her it from a dysfunctional parent and social media, but the the educators as well.

On this forum there are posters who argue that spelling correctly is racist.
Striving for perfection has always been a hallmark of American ethos, until now, why is that?
Is it the "dumbing down" of America?

Schools have always used the concept of Equity

Not just every child receives the exact same education….Equality

But those who need extra help, receive extra help…..Equity

It is relevant because this ideology is accelerating in political circles to solve the problems created by this wishful but empty belief that the population must be managed to save them from themselves. DEI, affirmative actions, hate this and hate that, underserved and overserved, all to reward poor performance and punish self improvement. Big sounding words, maybe well meaning but maybe not, this is our future. Kamala Harris, reparations, and guaranteed income - Washington Examiner

Like condemning people who wish to remain childless?

Vance calls them names out of love I suppose.

It's important because it shows a bit about how we got to where we are today because it seems that anything you do to give your kids an advantage in a completive world is claimed by the leftist "equal outcome" crowd to be an unfair (and usually "racist") advantage.

Someone did not just wake-up one day and think that DEI was a really good idea, it had been fermenting in the sick minds of leftists for a while.
