Kamala Endorses Dockworkers Strike That Union Boss Boasted Would ‘Cripple’ The Economy

Seriously? What foreign products do they require that cannot be acquired from US companies?

If you buy a foreign car built overseas, you deserve to wait on it. It will not spoil sitting on a ship.

Buying American made products just might catch on after a few months. Anything we need from China probably will just enter through the west coast and endure increased shipping costs by rail.
Much of our life saving medicines are in those ships... as well as food....
It won't take long before we will have a shortage of blood pressure meds... blood thinners... cholesterol meds... Parkinson's medication.... cancer meds... medical equipment like glove masks and needles...

What products will be affected by the port Workers Strike?

Food products likely to be impacted in the nearer term include seafood, coffee and fruits and vegetables grown outside the U.S. And while retailers that likely stocked up beforehand are buffered against an immediate impact, "at some point bananas are going to expire, frozen seafood is going to defrost," Munch said.5 hours ago

They were smart to strike this time of year, this year.
Strikes are like lawsuits. You demand way more than you expect to get, to simply set your initial bargaining amount.

As far as robotics and AI, they're not the only ones wanting assurance, that they won't be replaced.

Negotiations will begin soon, and it will take quite a few meetings until they hammer out what's best for everyone involved. This is a common movie sequel.

It sounds like they're asking for too much, but once you realize that it's over eight years, and that money won't be shit in eight years, it's really not that much.
It’s over five years, and $120.000 won’t be shit then, either - especially when you consider all they’ll rake in with overtime when they demand that the company doesn’t use more efficient machinery.

Great! Maybe we will learn to be more self-sufficient like we had to do during COVID. I just do not recommend giving into their monopoly on imported goods. The union needs to take the recent offer or risk being out of work for the rest of their lives. Their companies will go bankrupt and then they will be SOL.

BTW, medicines can be flown. They aren't that heavy.

Go them! How would you feel about it if you were one of them? Can you walk in other's shoes for a mile?
