Iran is Shiite, which means, historically, they are enemies of the Taliban.
When Bush disbanded the Iraq military, primarily Sunni, the military leaders joined Isis, which is why Isis suddenly became so good.
But Isis, which is made up of so many truly crazy very far right wingers, went too far. Even farther than the Taliban could stomach. And they threatened the Taliban's rule in Afghanistan. So now, Iran and the Taliban, enemies for a thousand years are teaming up to fight Isis.
Unfortunately, Obama has decided to keep troops in Afghanistan because the situation there is deteriorating. So now, we have US troops sitting between the Taliban, Isis and Iran. Three who hate our guts. Once again, American troops are sitting ducks.
