Right move....wrong reason.



1. "Defense Lawyers Want Out Of Fort Hood Shooting Trial

2. ....a rebellion in her courtroom. A team of Army defense lawyers told her on Wednesday that they want to be released from their job.

3. ...lawyers want out because they think Hasan is purposely trying to lose this trial.

4. Texas Tech law professor and former Army lawyer Richard Rosen says the defense attorney is in a difficult spot:
"He thinks it's ethically improper for him to serve as a standby counsel for someone who's seeking the death penalty when his role should be to ensure that he does not get the death penalty,"..."

The lawyers have a point - defense attorneys are supposed to try cases in such a way as to get a "not guilty" verdict, or failing that, to prevent a death sentence and as little time as possible. This guy is trying to get a death sentence ... martyrdom. They are at cross purposes.
