Learning the wrong lesson. Gun Control.

It went down for the whole country during that period. It declined after the Brady Bill. You know, gun control.

not by 41% in one year it didin't
In The Shadow Of Exile

Rochester is the city in the best position to tell us whether Exile does what its proponents say it should: reduce gun violence. It has the longest-running program in the country, which continues today. Yet in Rochester, like everywhere else, no one knows whether Exile works. In the program’s 18 years, judges have handed out 633 sentences for a total of 3,411 years in federal prison. But the city had 24 gun murders last year — giving it a rate more than four times New York City’s. And community relations with police, as in many cities, are strained. The enthusiasm for Exile appears to be based more in rhetoric than in evidence, which leaves some people asking whether it’s worth the human costs.

And what gun ban had better success?
Nobody can even say for sure there was success. We tried it nationally and it was a failure. Rochester dropped it. You are bringing up a proven failure.
One problem is that Project Exile itself effectively has not been in use for nearly 20 years

Yes, people should have military weapons that the common foot soldier can carry. That was the intent of the 2A.

That being said, the AR-15 is NOT A MILTIARY WEAPON. No militaries in the world use the AR-15. It is a common semi auto firearm like thousands of others.

Agreed. The AR15 does not give We The People the Constitutionally intended deterrence force needed proportional to today's government armament and weaponry.

No, that is not to say We The People should have nuclear weapons (as idiots will now say), it simply points out that clamoring to take away what meager weapons We The People have is without merit.

while it's true that in a free society, there will in fact be occasional mass shootings and other acts committed by sick people, it is VERY small number of people affected relatively speaking and should not be grounds for exposing an entire nation of millions of people to the very real dangers of oppressive tyranny. And NEVER say "It can't happen here"...it DID happen here, and it IS happening again in modern times. These are EXTREMELY bad times to be hoping for disarming the citizenry in any way shape or form.....regardless of political leanings.

Sounds like the expert on your link thinks it wasn't strong enough.
Cook said the real problem is the law's "gaping barn door" for unregulated sales, mainly at gun shows, but no one knows how many guns are bought with false IDs or exchanged privately, to say nothing of those being stolen.

He praised an Illinois law that requires gun owners to have ID cards and to record the ID numbers of individuals they sell guns to. Failure to keep records or report a stolen gun can result in prosecution. Cook also endorsed gun locks as a cheap and sensible way to render guns useless except to the owner.

We don't really need a study. Brady Bill 1993.

We have checks and balances for tyranny. The 2nd was never ment for that. We didn't have a standing army at the time it was for militias.

It needs to be strengthened. Still easy to get a gun in this country. Hence why are law enforcement are shot and killed weekly. Hence why we have regular mass killings.

Happens all the time with governments

The point is no gun bans were used and they still had great reductions in murder rates,

But then of course people started calling it "too harsh"

There is absolutely no evidence that the Brady Bill was responsible for that

You can't argue that Exile was a failure because murder rates were going down anyway and then say the Brady Bill is a success because murder rates were going down anyway and none of that decline can be directly attributed to that bill,

Where the murder rate decreased much more in Richmond than in other places while Exile was in effect and the only real difference was the Exile program which sadly was abandoned even though it is still on the books

People like you claim Trump is not the legitimate President.....yet now you suddenly have "faith" in the system of checks and balances when it comes to disarming the people?

The second part of your statement makes no sense.

THE PEOPLE WERE the military. That is why the 2nd amendment makes it clear that THE PEOPLE's right to bear arms shall NOT BE INFRINGED.

Apparently you are one who favors Marxism, Communism?

There's a whole list of people that are prohibited from possessing firearms

What the heck do you call it. Its not a hunting rifle. If it is you had best go practice target shooting. I get it , I use to love to fire the M16 on the firing range, esp at night. Yes the AK 15 with most use for mass shootings is an "assault rifle".
The penis deficient loons will play semantics all night long to avoid addressing the capabilities of the weapons in question.
Said no rational reasoned, honest person, ever.

The large, removable, magazine capability makes all the difference.
All semi-automatic rifles have a magazine; the huge majority of them are removable.
The AR15 is no different f rom any of them.
The AK/AR derivatives of military weapons have no place in a civilised society.
Unsupportable nonsense.

They support tyranny.
They believe in fascism.
Therefore according to them, The People should be rendered defenseless and unable to resist.
