Lefties push campus rape myth...Pro 2nd Amendment push arming women on campus...backfire....

So even though we determine almost no rapes are defendable with a gun you think big government should force universities to allow guns? Increasing accidental shootings on campus?

We did not determine that...we did determine this......

A woman using a gun is less likely to be raped and more likely to not be injured during the attack....

Guns Effective Defense Against Rape

However, most recent studies with improved methodology are consistently showing that the more forceful the resistance, the lower the risk of a completed rape, with no increase in physical injury. Sarah Ullman's original research (Journal of Interpersonal Violence, 1998) and critical review of past studies (Criminal Justice and Behavior, 1997) are especially valuable in solidifying this conclusion.

I wish to single out one particular subtype of physical resistance: Use of a weapon, and especially a firearm, is statistically a woman's best means of resistance, greatly enhancing her odds of escaping both rape and injury, compared to any other strategy of physical or verbal resistance. This conclusion is drawn from four types of information.

First, a 1989 study (Furby, Journal of Interpersonal Violence) found that both male and female survey respondents judged a gun to be the most effective means that a potential rape victim could use to fend off the assault. Rape "experts" considered it a close second, after eye-gouging.

Second, raw data from the 1979-1985 installments of the Justice Department's annual National Crime Victim Survey show that when a woman resists a stranger rape with a gun, the probability of completion was 0.1 percent and of victim injury 0.0 percent, compared to 31 percent and 40 percent, respectively, for all stranger rapes (Kleck, Social Problems, 1990).

Third, a recent paper (Southwick, Journal of Criminal Justice, 2000) analyzed victim resistance to violent crimes generally, with robbery, aggravated assault and rape considered together. Women who resisted with a gun were 2.5 times more likely to escape without injury than those who did not resist and 4 times more likely to escape uninjured than those who resisted with any means other than a gun. Similarly, their property losses in a robbery were reduced more than six-fold and almost three-fold, respectively, compared to the other categories of resistance strategy.

Fourth, we have two studies in the last 20 years that directly address the outcomes of women who resist attempted rape with a weapon. (Lizotte, Journal of Quantitative Criminology, 1986; Kleck, Social Problems, 1990.) The former concludes,"Further, women who resist rape with a gun or knife dramatically decrease their probability of completion." (Lizotte did not analyze victim injuries apart from the rape itself.) The latter concludes that "resistance with a gun or knife is the most effective form of resistance for preventing completion of a rape"; this is accomplished "without creating any significant additional risk of other injury."

The best conclusion from available scientific data, then, is when avoidance of rape has failed and one must choose between being raped and resisting, a woman's best option is to resist with a gun in her hands.

So, again Brain...you are wrong...her best chance for stopping the rape and ultimately surviving the situation is to use a gun.....

Yes Bill you keep posting the same pro gun studies. But your actual story the woman survives unarmed. Give her a gun and you are increasing her chance of dying.

Well....we know that she was disarmed and she was raped......we know the other victims were disarmed, raped and one was murdered........I can guarantee that that was the outcome when they were disarmed by your laws.......

I can guarantee that she has a better chance of not getting raped and murdered if she has a gun......and no chance of stopping the rape, as she was in fact raped, when she doesn't have a gun and the rapist does.....

And we know she survived. So giving her a gun would only increase the chance of her dying. Think she would be as willing as a murderer to pull the trigger? Not everyone wants to kill somebody.

Weak, and pathetic brain....try again tomorrow.....and again....

You say that yet she survived without one. Without one we know her chance of survival is 100%, cause it's an actual event and we know the outcome. Now give her a gun and this murderer probably shoots her, her chances of survival slim.

You are wrong brain...she could have stopped the rape...completely, and possibly saved 2 or more women from being raped and 1 or more women from being murdered....and according to research, if she had had a gun she would have stopped that rape....

But no.....you prefer she be raped than stop the rape with a gun...and you prefer the other 2 women be raped than that the rapist be stopped with a gun...and your prefer that the woman be raped and murdered than stop the rape with a gun....and those are only the 3 women we know about that he raped, there could be many others...he was loose for 13 months because you don't want women stopping rape with a gun.......

Weak brain...really weak.....you want women who can stop rape with a gun to be raped instead....that is what your argument is....because some women drink, all women should be allowed to be raped rather than stop the rape with a gun...nice......

No Bill I'm saying rape is better than dead. And like I said very few are defendable with a gun. And the few that are pepper spray would cover those without worrying about accidental shootings.

And we know she survived. So giving her a gun would only increase the chance of her dying. Think she would be as willing as a murderer to pull the trigger? Not everyone wants to kill somebody.

So you are going to ignore what actually happened and make things up...

The last thing societies need is more people carrying firearms in universities, especially based on statistics that are complete and total lies.
Why do you want women to be raped?
There is no rape culture on college campuses.
You didn't answer the question.
Of course I oppose rape....
And you oppose women carrying guns to protect themselves...?

No, I just oppose firearms in universities accept for police. I see no point to bring them on campus when there is no example of a crime epidemic on campuses for women. It will create more problems than exist.

Why are you acting like a liberal faggot and twisting my words?

Explain the lack of an epidemic to the actual woman that ends up being raped because she isn't allowed to use a gun to stop it.........

No.....it is already a Constitutional right to carry a weapon for self defense.....government is in place to protect the Rights of individuals.....

I think the owner of the university has the right to say no guns. Nobody is being forced to go to that school.
