Legal to eat pets - Thank the NRA

The NRA would have been for it if they had not added the part about forbidding the shooting of pigeons.

And put forth a bill only addressing cats and dogs, bet it would pass. Someone was playing games when they decided to add pigeons to the bill, knowing some would try to blame the nra for not wanting cats and dogs to be safe from hunting, rather than mentioning the bill included doves aka pigeons as well.
We should not allow the eating of dogs and cats to gain a niche in American culture. :gay:

Those pets are too precious.

Obama ate a dog FFS!!!

Yes, because, at the age of 11, he lived in a country where it was accepted and customary.

Now the NRA wants to make it an accepted practice in the US.

THINK it through, Frank.

And other "accepted practices" in the United States, courtesy of Liberals...

Having dead people vote
Thwarting voter ID laws so that illegals can cast ballots for them
Killing babies yet scrambling to save lives of convicted murderers

Should I go on?

I don't have a problem with people eating cat or dog, as long a restaurant doesn't try to sell it to me as beef.

I agree with this statement. I'm a carnivore. I'm not sure why America today is willing to take the life of ugly animals and eat them but not the cute ones when "you are what you eat".

Any American that eats meat should be willing to take an animals life for food. If you can't take an animals life but eat at McDonalds then you should probably eat veggies and beans. Note, even top MMA fighters have a veggie and bean diet.

America absolutely relies on too much meat when we need mostly veggies. It's no where near our respect for the animal in keeping us alive anymore, we just want dinner. I'm willing to kill an animal to survive. But a wise man once told me; "Some people live to eat, and some people eat to live."

^Meat comes from animals. It's up to America to decide at what extent.

I just watched "Real Sports" with Bryant Gumble - can't stand his worthless ass, but they had a segment on hunting the other day. Perhaps if the idiots who believe that their meat is "humanely" treated (they are not) at the packing plants, went out and hunted, killed and eaten their own meat - they would understand the process and have a little more respect for wildlife. I grew up watching my Grandfather and my Father slaughtering pigs, cattle, chickens etc. I learned as a kid how to hunt, kill and eat my own meat. They (we) always treated the animals with respect - but make no mistake, it is a nasty business to slaughter and dress most anything. The pay off is knowing that the animal gave his life for the benefit of my family.

My Wife and I have not purchased meat or vegetables in a grocery in nearly 10 years now. We grow our own vegetables and hunt our own meat.

That is called "LIFE". Modern America has all but forgotten what it is.....

For the most part, I agree.

When we put killing on an assembly line basis, where shutting down the line can get you fired, that's when it became so incredibly cruel.

Too late. It already is. I dont see anything wrong with it. They are animals just like a cow or pig. The emotional factor is the only thing that stops people from eating them here in the states. When I was stationed in Korea they had these farms of white dogs they slaughtered to make a dish called kegogi. I never could bring myself to eat it because I always thought about my dog back home.

The post indicates a couple of things, First of all it's true that the radical left get's it's news from the comedy channel. The second thing is that they are so ignorant that they really think the NRA makes or vetoes laws in a freaking blue state or anywhere else.

Pennsylvania has a Republican governor, a Republican controlled Senate, and a Republican controlled House. A total of five of the eighteen seats from PA in Congress belong to the GOP. Calling us a Blue State because the state trends for Democratic Presidents is not exactly accurate. I also think you are downplaying the clout the NRA hold in this state. They wield some decent political power here in the Keystone, an NRA ranking can make or break a political career in many districts here.

Cattle are one thing, but dogs have an intelligence similar to humans. Stare a cow in the face, and then after that a dog and you'll see the difference.

Stephen Colbert butchers the NRA for killing bill that banned the eating of puppies and kittens

On last night’s episode of The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert went after the National Rifle Association for its role in killing a Pennsylvania bill that banned the breeding of cats and dogs for meat.

“The kitten-coddlers out there don’t want you to eat your pets,” he began. “‘That’s illegal,’ they say. But not everywhere — you can have a dog for dinner in Pennsylvania thanks to the NRA.”

Colbert then cut to a clip from WPVI, in which the reporter said, “this all started after a small number of butcher shops in Pennsylvania started selling dog and cat meat. In response, House Bill 1750, designed to outlaw the human consumption of household pets was quickly put together. But the NRA opposed the bill, and it never got voted on.”

“We did it!” Colbert shouted. “It’s still legal in Pennsylvania to serve cat and dog meat! So you’re safe for now, White Castle.”

“Now, I don’t always agree with the NRA, but I do. Especially about why this bill had to die,” he said, before cutting back to WPVI, which stated the reason the bill was killed was that an amendment was added to ban live pigeon shooting.

“Now, I imagine that shooting a pigeon on the ground might seem like shooting fish in a barrel,” Colbert said. “But there’s a big difference — fish don’t scream.”

“According to the NRA’s website, banning the time-honored tradition of shooting captive pigeons ‘might begin the slide down a slippery slope,’ and ‘the next stop will be regulated shooting grounds.’ That’s right, in order to protect their right to kill birds, the NRA defeated the anti-pet-eating bill.”

“It’s a hard, but noble sacrifice,” Colbert continued. “But dogs and cats must die, in order that the pigeons may die too.”

What? Are you mad that the bill didn't include being able to eat your aborted baby? Until you care about human life, you have no credit talking about something else's life.
