Let’s teach children about slavery properly by connecting it to our present

But the effects linger on. We have just endured a coronation of a monarch who sits on a pile of money from the slave trade..
Would all of those kiddies waving union flags be as enthusiatic if they were taught about that ?

In your 96% white country, how many families have slave-owning ancestors? Yours for sure, right?

You make a narrow domestic point. You should look beyond that to consider the outcomes of slavery.
The outcome of slavery in America is we are left with an African population that continually buys into the narrative they are still being oppressed. They are bitter, resentful, and yet refuse to go back to their native lands. Evidently being “oppressed” by whites in America is a thousand times better than being free of all that in Africa.

Can't get those 40 ounce malt liquors over there....

Slavery was a godsend for black people born on America today and a curse for whites

Without slavery there would be few black people here and America would be less violent and happier country

Where should they go ? Their ancestors were in chains when they arrived.
Why should they leave a country that they built ?

Slaves did not build this country. They were used for cheap labor to pick cotton. If they weren’t around we would had just paid poor people like Indians or Irish to do it.

Well your post just accepted that they did. America was built on slaery. England emptied its slums to provide slave labour for the colonies.

I hate to point this out ... Mr. OP ... but if we teach our children The Truth about slavery ... they'll just rebel ... and demand pay for their chores ...
It's funny, my daughter tried that at ten years of age. She changed her tune when we cut off her access to the phone, TV and varied diet. We fed her a balanced diet that was bland and had the recommended caloric count for her age. Once she figured out that blackmailing her parents wasn't going to work and committed to doing her chores, everything went back to normal. She lasted less than a week.

Awwwww ... poor thing ... did you instruct her about stockpiling telephone time, TVs and snacks before she calls a strike? ...

Once she turns 18, Child Welfare has no further jurisdiction, something to look forward to ...
