aug 4 2015 All it took was 140 characters for Texas Christian University to suspend a conservative student who posted a series of social networking posts that insulted the Islamic State, the Baltimore rioters and Mexicans.

TCU banned Harry Vincent from most campus activities, ordered him to perform 60 hours of community service and attend a diversity training class.

The charges stemmed from a half dozen tweets he had posted online referencing radical Islam along with a Facebook message about the Baltimore riots.

“These hoodrat criminals in Baltimore need to be shipped off and exiled to the sahara desert,” he wrote. “Maybe then they’ll realize how much we provide for them (welfare, college tuition, Obama phone’s, medicare, etc.”

In regards to Islam he wrote, “This is clearly not a religion of peace.”

He also used the word “beaner” a derogatory term to describe Mexicans.

I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. Although not necessarily religious, these are colleges where values and morals are prized. There is less partying and more sexual abstention, less diversity in clothing styles and more traditional attitudes among students. Many students have a "Republican/right wing" political orientation and may believe that less government is good, that a strong military is a top priority, and that the federal government should not provide "handouts" to the poor. Some of these colleges have a rigid "core" education with required classes instead of electives.

So....the claim that liberals suspended anyone is likely faux. It's a private institution with a specified Code of Conduct.

People are just whining because a student broke the rules, got suspended, and his message happens to be approved bigotry so it's being called a free speech issue. Free speech doesn't always apply in a private institution.
