The profit margins for the oil business hover around 7%. You don't want capitalism, you want cheap oil like the oil business runs on altruism.

So government should nationalize oil production and refining?

Government should get out of the way and stop hindering the oil industry with egregious regulations and limiting their ability to engage in the market. That is the opposite of Nationalization.

When your entire economy is tied to oil, who doesn’t want oil to be as affordable as possible? Since you brought profit margins into it, the governments make substantially more in the price of gas than do the oil and gas companies.

Oil prices are set on the open market. There isn't much a president can do to affect them. Releasing so of the federal stockpile is about it, as far as I know. Maybe put some political pressure on oil producing nations.

Trump disagreed and proved you wrong, we didn't have these problems when he opened up more drilling opportunities for the oil companies. Also fracking lowered the gas prices under Obama while he tried to stop them.
