Jefferson Parish is actually mixed politically. The Parish President was Democrat at the time but the Parish voted over 60% for McCain.

I wonder just how large Rom's "entourage" will be? I've seen these in the past and they amount to just a couple of vehicles.

It's drawing from the emergency fund all states pay into through their federal income taxes; but on that issue can you imagine the uproar that would ensue if Jindal refused it?

I don't think emergency help to disaster regions is one of the things Republicans are for rescinding, but how it's spent should always be given scrutiny. Arent there thousands of never-used mobile homes still sitting somewhere left over from Katrina 7-years ago?

The gist of my comment is, only ignorant dupes believe that Republicans are opposed to all government services; they do want everything to be on the up-and-up, and when unnecessary to not be created when ordinary private institutions would do it.

To have the govt. do everything, such things that charitable institutions do well as a for instance, causes those institutions to wither away. One way that can happen is when people who have charitable hearts who might be considering giving are led to say: "that's already being done by the government, so no cause for me to give, especially since the government is taking enough from me already...."
