I think it stinks that some people are making snarky remarks about this.

No he wasnt trying to help. He was trying to be a cowboy and he got his ass killed. The guy was leaving and instead of calling the police he decided he was going to be Rambo and go get his gun to keep the guy there where he was still a threat.

I don't disagree with you in fact my earlier post said the same thing. It was an act with good intentions and he paid for it with his life. Better than getting killed playing chicken with a train I guess

If the bad guy hadn't already been in his truck and leaving, I would agree it was a tragedy. He WAS trying to help, but he was also playing cop, and that's dangerous--as any cop will tell you. He could have taken the guy's plate # and waited for the police to catch the guy.

If the bad guy hadn't already been in his truck and leaving, I would agree it was a tragedy. He WAS trying to help, but he was also playing cop, and that's dangerous--as any cop will tell you. He could have taken the guy's plate # and waited for the police to catch the guy.

That is the best way to handle this......and I would have to say you have to think really hard about wether to intervene even if another life is being threatened...as soon as you choose to step in, your life changes....especially if you are using a gun....you have just made the choice that you are willing to use lethal force.....and that is a line that you can't step back from if you pull that trigger.
