Marijuana Is Saving Lives

And destroying brain cells.

You didn't watch the video did you?

Take the time to watch and you might want to retract the post above.

The medical marijuana developed in this video has no THC in it. Just the CBC which is what has most of the medical properties in it.

No brain cells are being destroyed. In fact, the girl in the video has a brain disease called epilepsy. Which caused her to have around 400 grand mall seizures a day. Those seizures cause brain damage.

The medical marijuana is stopping the seizures and brain damage.
my wife is also Epileptic.....Pot did more for her than any of the know seizure drugs which have side effects, some, just as nasty as Epilepsy....she had a tremor in her right arm....pot reduced that way more than the drugs....her Seizures went from 18 a month with the drugs....to 2-3 a month after doing pot without the heavy duty drugs she was taking.....

And destroying brain cells.

So's alcohol. Would question the downside though. If dumb enough to drink alcohol in the first place loosing brain cells probably wont be noticed. :)

Any and all of that stuff does more harm than good (in the long run).

You should tell that to 6 year old girl in the video and her parents.

It's helping to save my life so you should look my husband and my child in the eye and tell them I should die from cancer because you believe it does more harm than good.

I would be dead right now without medical marijuana.

That little girl in the video would be dead now without medical marijuana.

It certainly is not helping save your life. It is merely helping you deal with the pain. Which is fine and I have no problem with that, but don't lie about it.

Cancer isn't causing me any pain.

The drugs I have to take for the cancer causes pain in my stomach but what I'm using medical marijuana for is to keep food in my stomach.

The drug I have to take makes just about everything I put in my mouth come right back up. Quickly and violently. When I started this drug I was a size 9. Today, I'm a size 1 and in denial about having to go to a size zero.

However if I take a couple hits of medical marijuana, the food stays in my stomach most of the time.

It has nothing to do with pain. It has to do with not becoming emaciated and not being able to fight the cancer.

If I didn't have medical marijuana to keep food in me, I would probably be dead now.

I'm sorry that you have cancer and I hope that pot helps with some of the symptoms but it's not a miracle drug. I believe that for the vast majority of users it's simply a means to hide from reality for awhile. I certainly wouldn't trust a surgeon on pot to do his job well. Without a doubt, it has a dumbing down effect.

And destroying brain cells.

SAFER - Marijuana vs. Alcohol

"Alcohol use damages the brain. Marijuana use does not. Despite the myths we've heard throughout our lives about marijuana killing brain cells, it turns out that a growing number of studies seem to indicate that marijuana actually has neuroprotective properties. This means that it works to protect brain cells from harm. For example, one recent study found that teens who used marijuana as well as alcohol suffered significantly less damage to the white matter in their brains. Of course, what is beyond question is that alcohol damages brain cells."

* Alcohol use is linked to cancer. Marijuana use is not. Alcohol use is associated with a wide variety of cancers, including cancers of the esophagus, stomach, colon, lungs, pancreas, liver and prostate. Marijuana use has not been conclusively associated with any form of cancer. In fact, one study recently contradicted the long-time government claim that marijuana use is associated with head and neck cancers. It found that marijuana use actually reduced the likelihood of head and neck cancers. If you are concerned about marijuana being associated with lung cancer, you may be interested in the results of the largest case-controlled study ever conducted to investigate the respiratory effects of marijuana smoking and cigarette smoking. Released in 2006, the study, conducted by Dr. Donald Tashkin at the University of California at Los Angeles, found that marijuana smoking was not associated with an increased risk of developing lung cancer. Surprisingly, the researchers found that people who smoked marijuana actually had lower incidences of cancer compared to non-users of the drug.

* Alcohol is more addictive than marijuana. Addiction researchers have consistently reported that marijuana is far less addictive than alcohol based on a number of factors. In particular, alcohol use can result in significant and potentially fatal physical withdrawal, whereas marijuana has not been found to produce any symptoms of physical withdrawal. Those who use alcohol are also much more likely to develop dependence and build tolerance.

* Alcohol use increases the risk of injury to the consumer. Marijuana use does not. Many people who have consumed alcohol or know others who have consumed alcohol would not be surprised to hear that it greatly increases the risk of serious injury. Research published this year in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research, found that 36 percent of hospitalized assaults and 21 percent of all injuries are attributable to alcohol use by the injured person. Meanwhile, the American Journal of Emergency Medicine reported that lifetime use of marijuana is rarely associated with emergency room visits. According to the British Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, this is because: "Cannabis differs from alcohol … in one major respect. It does not seem to increase risk-taking behavior. This means that cannabis rarely contributes to violence either to others or to oneself, whereas alcohol use is a major factor in deliberate self-harm, domestic accidents and violence." Interestingly enough, some research has even shown that marijuana use has been associated with a decreased risk of injury."

Every "high" pothead I've ever TRIED to have a conversation with sounded like he had an IQ of about 10 (and I'm being generous). Pot, simply put, makes a person stupid!! Drunks, too, are blathering idiots.
that depends on the person.....some are some are not....

And destroying brain cells.

Glad pot has helped your wife and sorry she suffers with a medical condition. However, even booze can be used in a positive way. It can kill germs or pain in an emergency. It doesn't mean that booze is a miracle drug. Heroin, opium, and other strong drugs can and have been used for medical purposes in rare situations. That's how I see pot. I personally believe that it's abused and over-used in our society and it's almost always the users that tout its virtues.

You didn't watch the video did you?

There are hard core drug addicts that will just not accept how deadly marijuana is. May just as well try to deal directly with the bong itself. Same result.
says one of the more ignorant posters here about Pot....you just dont learn do you Katz?....why dont you just admit that you are one of the hard core anti-pot people and will never accept that Pot aint as bad for you as you think it is....even if you have proof.....like i have told you Katz.....casual smokers are not "hard core drug addicts".....and "Reefer Madness" is not the way it is .....

Pot is pot: THC is THC. If it's not marijuana then don't call it marijuana. Use a little common sense next time before making yourself look as if you're high.

You're wrong.

The marijuana strain that they developed has no THC in it. It does have the CBD in it and that's what prevents the 400 grand mall seizures the little girl has each day without the medical marijuana.

The strain they developed is called Charolette's Web. After the little girl whose life has been saved by that drug.

Seriously, watch the video. You might learn something.

In the article Delta posted, they did not ever call it marijuana and called it CBD.

Having been a user (of pot and booze) back in my teens and twenties I can state as fact that I've never met any pothead or boozer who could carry on an intelligent conversation (including me). Potheads can't stay on topic and boozers slur their words (and thought processes).

No, I'm too busy. :) I tried it...Three times think it is in college. Was each time already fairly drunk so never saw what the big deal was. Noticed slight increase in color though, was about it.

Then you can't really comment on what pot does to a person's thought process. Even when someone isn't smoking it will remain in the system for a month or more (speaking of chronic users). You can tell by Dana's responses that pot doesn't help one think clearly.

I would guess not and that she uses THC since she said it helps her appetite.

Cannabidiol is even known to counteract some of the effects of THC like the “munchies.” Just as THC increases our appetite, CBD suppresses it, which could be ideal for patients watching their figure. CBD just might be a key ingredient in a future weight loss drug, who knows?

An astronaut can take pictures; give eyewitness accounts of what he sees; and take samples for scientific research. Potheads will simply tell you what they want you to hear and try to paint a pretty picture. So comparing an astronaut to a space cadet is like comparing apples to corncobs.

I understand Dana, but this is the third thread I've seen you post this in and each time you make it seem like the marijuana is fighting off the cancer, and it isn't.

That's my point.

It's helping me to fight the cancer. Which is what I've said all along.

Without it, I would have become emaciated long ago and probably died.

The type of cancer I'm fighting is a very deadly form of breast cancer. Millions of women have died from it. Including 4 of my relatives. I'm trying to become the first in my family to beat this disease. I've come farther than anyone in my family before me. I'm fighting this for them, my husband and my child. Believe me, this sucks and there have been many times that I wanted to say that's enough. I'm done. Let the cancer kill me. I do have reasons to keep fighting so I will until my last breath.

I'm lucky to be in Washington where medical marijuana has been legal since 1999. I will have to deal with this for the rest of my life.

It always comes back and kills. There's no discussion about it anymore. The studies have been done and prove that without the medication I take, I would be dead now. Without the medical marijuana I couldn't take that drug and I would be dead now.

So yes, medical marijuana is helping to save my life. In fact my oncologist gave me a lecture last month about it. I'm not smoking enough to make me hungry and keep enough weight on. I lost more weight. She told me that I must keep weight on if I'm going to win this battle. This is a doctor at a very well known cancer treatment center in Seattle. I got the same lecture from my primary care physician who works out of Swedish Hospital.

That little girl in that video would be dead now without the medical marijuana. The doctors already told the family to make preparations for her death. That she would be dead soon. All of that stopped with the medical marijuana. She now is a happy and healthy child with a future instead of death.

Those are facts that science has proven.

I'd be dead now if it wasn't for my drug of choice.

That is what every addict says. It's how they rationalize their addiction. It is one of the reasons addictions are so hard to treat.
Katz go back to your hole....you dont even know what a joint looks like....anyone who thinks your high for 3 weeks after smoking and should not be driving during that time has no business talking about Pot...you are one of the most clueless people on this subject i have ever seen....you get your ass kicked in every Pot thread in this forum you are in by dozens of people Cons and Libs alike....and yet you keep jumping in....on this subject you are pretty stupid....

It would be exactly the same argument if the drug of choice was heroin, meth, percoset or Jim Beam. No difference.

"Dr. Sean McAllister, a scientist from the Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, made an astounding discovery about CBD. McAllister has been studying cannabinoid compounds for 10 years now in search of new therapeutic interventions for various cancers. He discovered that cannabidiol is a potent inhibitor of cancer cell proliferation, metastasis, and tumor growth.

Results of his experiments on breast cancer show that the number of cancer cells diminished as more CBD was applied. Essentially, CBD may be a generally effective way to switch off the cancer-causing gene, providing patients with a non-toxic therapy to treat aggressive forms of cancer."
