Maybe install deadbolt locks?

Because things never break and people never make mistakes?
Our front apartment building entry door latch failed this morning. It was fixed within one hour. No children were harmed.

Pictured in article is a Uvalde classroom door, sans a deadbolt lock.

If the shooter deadbolted the door and killed everyone it would be a security risk people would be crying about.

If the kids locked it and someone got hurt because teacher could get in the school gets sued.

If the school is on fire and there is a deadbolt issue then the school is to blame.

It's risk vs reward. Considering how few actual school shootings there compared to the liability of costing the school for other deadbolt related incidents that are much much more common, schools aren't going to take the gamble.

Comparing "ifs" with dozens of dead kids is hardly a good argument.
