If you have Medicare it is a single payer Just because it does not cover 100% does not change that.

A single payer is where one pays and Medicare today is not limited to one paying the full cost of their medical care then you throw in the Part B premium. What some of the dems are proposing is the govt pays 100% for everything and it won't work, cost too damn much money.

In the Sanders plan, there are no deductibles or co-pays. So the question is why would you want a private plan other to cover something not covered under his single payer. In which case you would buy a private plan if you want that coverage.

There is no natural escape from aging which is why Medicare was enacted in 1966. After age 65 the government provides medical insurance for citizens who without choice got old as well as some who contracted certain end stage diseases. Medicare is like a pond that supports a special population of fish. It’s not perfect but it works reasonably well as long as its ecosystem and population remain balanced-There is danger ahead for the pond.

After the destruction of US healthcare by the Obama administration’s Affordable Care Act, there have increasing calls to expand Medicare to cover all citizens regardless of age. Imagine what would happen if you had a longstanding backyard pond with 150 fish in it and suddenly someone dumped 100,000 more fish into that pond.

The original fish would quickly succumb to the hordes of new interlopers because they would be the weakest. It is the frail and infirm that are the first to be attacked by socialism because they are the least likely to put up a fight. Medicare for All would be a direct assault on every American over age 65.

They would be cast into the midst of mobs consisting of drug addicts, alcoholics, malingerers, criminals and careless citizens that exercised free will and chose a fate that unlike aging could have been avoided-but they have a vote that can be purchased to empower government by imposing socialism.

Even the most hapless fools among us watched as American politicians cobbled together a special technicality to separate and excuse themselves from the affordable Care Act. History reveals that virtually all socialist examples of government healthcare reserved top notch and quickly accessible medicine for the corrupted elite while rank and file citizens like most of us are herded into the bureaucracy to wait our turn even if we die in line.

As the US strays from a meritocracy to socialist aristocracy, Americans over age 65 are directly in the crosshairs of a runaway government that has singled them out of the herd as easy age-wounded targets. Anyone on Medicare that wants to preserve the pond should vote against Medicare for ALL because it is potential threat to elderly healthcare that could be a permanent dagger to its heart.

The logic of Medicare For All is flawed like most socialist schemes. Here's an example: We know that handicap parking spaces are provided to people who are disabled in some way while they are denied to people who are not.

Using the same logic as Medicare For ALL, handicap parking spaces should be provided to all Americans. The disabled would still have their handicap spaces but they would have to compete with able-bodied people because the handicap spaces would be available to all just like Medicare would be provided for all.

So cripple people would have a worthless sticker on their cars just like elderly Americans would have a worthless Medicare card in their wallets that put them at the back of the line behind healthy people.

So you can see what a genius idea Medicare for All is.
