They're probably just moving to other states but still, putting a limit on cash assistance makes sense.

Number of Michigan Welfare Recipients Declines 70 Percent

oct 21 2015 The number of people receiving welfare cash assistance from the state has plummeted since Gov. Rick Snyder took office, partly due to the improved economy but also because the state now enforces a limit on how long beneficiaries could receive cash benefits.

There were 227,490 people receiving cash assistance benefits from the state in 2011. As of August 2015, that number was down to 64,492. The state welfare agency's Family Independence Program provides temporary cash assistance to pregnant women and families with children. The program also attempts many interventions to get people employed in long-term jobs.

The state is now enforcing a 48-month lifetime limit on cash assistance. Wheaton said the time limit was in place previously but not enforced. The state also enforced federal 60-month time limits going back to the federal and state welfare reforms of 1996.

We need to tie sterilization in with welfare too if we ever hope to stop the poverty cycle. Sorry, but that's the truth..

Way to go Michigan. Hopefully the other 49 will follow suit.

Isn't it SOP for the GOP to claim the economy's failing? What happened?

but also because the state now enforces a limit on how long beneficiaries could receive cash benefits.

So is the author of the article an ignoramus? Limits on cash benefits have been standard for years.

Oh, and speaking of ignorami...it's "rolls." "Roles" are for actors.

You mean benefiting from an improved economy and your awareness that there are time limits on welfare payments? Let's hope so.

Why do you gotta make a good story into a clown act?:slap:

Isn't wrong. Never gonna happen nor will anyone wanting another term ever propose it, but it's a sound idea. Have long since made this point with Africa. If you send food and aid every time there's a famine, all you do is save the current generation who then has children multiplying the problem for the next. Supporting those who can't support themselves only ensures a bigger problem over time. I realize it's the stuff of dystopian sci-fi but the sucky thing is it's also true. Just don't know what the alternative is.

The unemployment rate in Michigan is now at 5%. People want to work. They always have. Republicans think they are hard workers and everyone else are lazy bums. Oh, "black" lazy bums. Except that's a joke.
All but a hand full of states are benefiting from the stock market. The ones not benefiting tend to be GOP.

When did the U.S. go from 50 states to 57? Alaska and Hawaii were the last two admitted to the union. What country are you referring to?

Most people on welfare also work. So pretty much the republicans don't want people to live in houses and want them to starve.

Republicans are all about throwing people onto the cold hard street. Fucking savages.

They have no right to use jesuses name.
That "cold hard street" is no match for welfare, now is it?

Have you ever been so down and out as to be forced to work?
That's a scary thought...You working after a fifth...
I must admit, I've gone to school as a substitute teacher with some whopping hangovers.
