With the snarls involved making the new Obamacare package work smoothly, here was an opportunity for Republicans to come in and make some needed changes. The GOP could have ended up making the ACA work better and smoother. Americans might have even named one of the improvements the Boehner-Save-a-Package but it was not to be. The opportunity to change the GOP reputation for not wanting to do better for the American people and only for the rich could have taken a big hit. But alas, in the Republican zeal to make sure Obama ends up a one term president they passed up the chance.

The best way to make it better is to get rid of it, add a pre-existing law, and no mandate on anyone.

Why fix something that is an anathema to people who believe in small federal government?

Because nothing shows a change to the overall polling that most Americans want the govt to fix a market that was broken even before Obamacare. If you want to be part of a permanent minority party, please just run the TPM ticket and let Republicans get back to governing.

Progressives think it is broken. "Most Americans" based on what? and finally, I have heard your suggestion, and kindly ask you to go pound sand.

Just like progressives can't get out of the "sucking government dick" bubble.

Obamacare is deliberately fucking 70% of the people up the ass for the benefit of the 30% who are loyal Democrat voters. Why would the GOP want to make that process work smoothly?

The healthcare market was only "broken" from the perspective of ticks on the ass of society who want something for nothing. Government caused any problems it may have had, like high cost.

If Obamacare is not working for the benefit of all the people why can't the Republicans change it, offer suggestions, pass bills to improve, come up with ideas, do more than just pass forty bills to end it, forty bills that went no place. Obamacare is the law of the land, what now becomes the Republican goal, and why?

BEcause the Democrats in the Senate will not vote for a single one and if they do Obama will veto it.
Why aren't the Dems proposing fixes?
And hey, if the Dems had bothered to work with the GOP on this instead of shutting them out of the process we wouldn't be here to begin with. That's what happens when one party tries to dominate the process.

All you had to say was...

"I don't understand nor do I want to understand the conservative ideology"

Because, according to your post, you most definitely have not attempted to understand why those that think differently than you do, think differently than you do.

We have immigration law now. Why do dems want to change it?

The Republicans do pass bills, but they are called DOA when they get to the Senate.

Look, even many democrats said Obamacare was a train wreck ready to happen before Oct. 1.

Republicans tried and failed to stop it by defunding it and/or delaying it.

Now, it's time for Crash and Burn.

Mor people are at the mercy of the ACA than thought.

Very few people have been able to get in and see how really affordable it is.

Those that have been able to get it experienced "Sticker Shock" and "Deductible Shock."

Americans are looking back at the Lie told by Obama, "If you like Your Insurance YOu Can Keep It. "Big Lyin' Barry" knew he was lying! Shame on him.. If we don't hold him accountable.. Shame on us!

When the GOP controlled the House and Senate and White House, that was when they blew their opportunity to reform healthcare in America. They had all the power, and they used it to get two big tax cut bills passed, and to start two wars, and to accomplish other things which the Democrats hated. But they chose to ignore healthcare reform entirely.

Healthcare reform had been a hot item for over a decade, and the GOP chose to not only ignore it, but they decided to create a giant new expensive Medicare entitlement program to get senior votes for the 2004 re-election of Dubya instead.

That is when I knew the GOP had decided to hand the healthcare issue to the Democrats with a big red bow on it. That is when I knew the GOP had secretly decided this country was going to have single payer healthcare sooner or later and they weren't going to do anything substantive to stop it.

ObamaCare is the next big stepping stone in that direction. Everyone knows it. Some say it openly, while the GOP pretends to be fighting it. But the GOP tipped their hand in 2003.

We are going to see single payer healthcare in America in our lifetimes, and the GOP is helping make that happen.

I fear you are right. I'd add though that the TPM targets for primary challange any goper who suggested market based alternatives to single payor, including Bennett and Enzi, and Tom Coburn is not a Rino.

There were basically two alternatives. Make healthcare insurance like any other insurance. You want a quote on how much auto coverage will cost, or how much garage A will charge to fix the fender bender compared to garage B .... it's easy to find out. There's little choice in what HC insuror to contract with, and impossible to get pre-treatment cost quote. The TPM even opposes state insurance exchanges .... after the gop supported them for a decade, at least in theory.

The alternative is medicare for all. 20% copays with tax credits and supplmental insurance policies.

Marvelous.

The commiecrats allowed special interest to write maobamacare, didn't bother to read it and passed it on a party line vote. They built and passed a bad law and have demonstrated their incompetence in trying to implement it. The republicans spent their political capital trying to save America from this commiecrat nightmare and your ideologically intrenched leadership chose to shutdown the government instead admitting the oncoming train wreck and trying to work with the republicans. So now just own this piece of crap and if you want to make changes, be prepared to accept some changes you won't like because you don't control both houses of congress any more.

Bullshit.
The GOP had other issues that were front burner issues. Post 9/11, the recession in 2001, the just war in Afghanistan and the even juster one in Iraq. Social Security reform, killed by the Democrats. The Medicare expansion was opposed by conservatives. But it is the only gov't program running under its projected budget. And i dont recall Dems opposing it exactly. Except to say it didnt spend enough.

Never happen. Assuming you can polish the turd that is Obamacare, the Dems and Obama would take all the credit. Nothing about Obamacare is good for the Country, or the Republicans.
