Thoughts from an Independent:
As Republicans and Democrats sit far apart and hiss at each other, while turning a blind eye to their own faults, America's government is gripped in gridlock. Momentum is building for a 3rd political party that can break this stalemate and move legislation forward. The non partisan Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (see link below) makes a good case for a 3rd party, but....what would a 3rd party look like? What would they vote for? The answers to these questions may just shape America's future for the next 240 years!
Renewing U.S. Political Representation: Lessons From Europe and U.S History
Right now a third party would look like republican voters who don’t embrace willful ignorance.

Why do you guys keep turning a blind eye to the constant venom we spew on the G.O.P.e?
We don't call em the Uni party's fake opposition fer nothing
it just doesn't fit the narrative does it
Ah well
third party?
have ya met crazy man yet ?
I thought Trump WAS our third party?
Trump is our answer that the Tea Party sought, but under the radar of running as a GOP. Trump pretty much said that. If we create a third party now:
- He's no democrat. Just ask any democrat.
- He certainly wasn't taken kindly by the GOP in 2016? Some of them hated Trump more than the democrats!
Democrats win.
- A third of the GOP switches to the third party.
- 95% of democrats stick with their party (hey, they're democrats).
Trump added OVER $2 TRILLION to the debt for a measly ~1% bump in GDP; what a fucking jack ass. OK?

The only way a third party has a real shot is if they have a galvanizing candidate..someone who has mass charisma, who cuts across party lines..and has a HUGE amount of money!
The numbers don't exactly back up your assertion..as far as crossover voters are concerned--most on the left who were disappointed with Obama...and there were more than a few..voted for Clinton or stayed home. Trump's victory was not due to his cross-over from the left..but more due to his galvanizing of the right...which is to say he gathered a lot more 'new' votes from his side of the fence--than he did from the left's side. A lot of the 'independent' vote tallied were not so very independent at all..but rather apathetic voters who were energized by Trump's campaign. The only way a third party has a real shot is if they have a galvanizing candidate..someone who has mass charisma, who cuts across party lines..and has a HUGE amount of money!
You just described Donald Trump. Lots of Obama voters disappointed with his lies and false promises swung their vote over to Trump.
They keep forgetting we have a dozen 3rd parties. One year I voted for the Constitution Party candidate. I HELP Obama win. Wont make that mistake again. We do this every four years.
How is anyone not allowing it. You just can’t win and all third party candidates do is take votes away from someone who can win.Is there a need for it? Yes.
Will the powers that be allow it? No.
Next!
No more so than the DemocratThey keep forgetting we have a dozen 3rd parties. One year I voted for the Constitution Party candidate. I HELP Obama win. Wont make that mistake again. We do this every four years.
They get no air time unless it's ridicule them and they sure as hell aren't able to really debate. It's also not helpful when they are absolutely nuts.

From what?
Seriously we have to now rehash 50 million threads on the internet why conservatives hate liberals?
It would take forever.

I did the same thing in 2008 and 2012. Obama was elected because the GOP candidates were HORRIBLE I would do the same thing againThey keep forgetting we have a dozen 3rd parties.
