The wife and I are both taking home more pay than in Jan of 2021.

Raise gas taxes to pay all that back. Reagan loved them, so you should too.

Since it is a payroll tax, you can also blame the lower wages for the lack of revenues; put a SS tax on imports to make up for all the high productivity jobs Wall Street got paid to ship out overseas to labor racketeering criminal syndicates like Red China and Mexico that all the stock market gamblers rely on to avoid having to live on what they actually produce.
