Most Important Political Battle Since Reagan/Bush

One of the most bitter partisan fights awaiting the Senate on its return from recess will be President Obama's push to appoint three new judges to the country's most influential appeals court.

Obama and Senate Democrats say the nominees to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit are needed to fill out its 11-member bench and restore balance to a court that has been dominated by Republican appointees.

But a close look at rulings over the last year in the environmental, energy and conservation realm shows that the administration -- and in particular, U.S. EPA -- has fared well at the D.C. Circuit.

Courts: D.C. Circuit -- at heart of nomination battle -- has handed major victories to EPA -- Monday, August 26, 2013 -- www.eenews.net

Dante's area of interest since ages ago...how the right wing and free marketeers of faux libertarianism (Federalist Society and people like C. Boyden Gray), decided to take over the levers of power in the USA.

Go after the ABA, while stacking the federal bench with what were then considered u 'll tra conservative judges who had one thing in common...deregulation and a minimalist view of government. One mask these bastards used was a plan to revive the tired old, consistently defeated states rights arguments.

Another thing was how to keep far right social and religious reactionaries in a coalition ... ever wonder why the real GOP battles that win are the economic and regulation ones, and not the social or religious ones?

The elite and powerful will go to the mat on this one...money and true power is at stake.

Watch the bs spin about 'stacking' the court. Filling DC circuit seats as is the President's prerogative for ages, is not akin to fDR's attempt to grow and stack the SCOTUS. watch the spin and bs

Stacking the federal bench and discrediting the ABA allowed these elite creeps to win no matter what party won the White House. After President Carter, every President got to pick SCOTUS appointees from an increasingly tilted right, federal bench

Back in July you had people like Sen Ted Cruz disingenuously saying that while President Obama is executing his duties (as every President before him has done) he is attempting to 'pack' the courts in his favor.

Obama faces tough fight filling D.C. Circuit Court - Washington Times

FDR tried to stack and pack the SCOTUS. What is going on now is more partisan spin twisting every day typical things into evil intentions and unfair practices. Welcome to right wing world reality.

Of course the EPA has done well in the DC circuit, they don't contest the suits brought against them. Ever heard of "sue and settle", we get to pay and pay and pay for these practices. You can read a bit about it here: EPA's back-room 'sue and settle' deals require reform | WashingtonExaminer.com

The DC Court battle will use red herrings and other devices to muddy the waters of a president fullfilling his duties as every other before him has. It's about power and money and your pathetic little post backs this up. How, cite a few cases that point to a supposed dangerous slippery slope into socialism and anatchy.

You are such a dupe.

Deflection 101: get a fool on our side, one primarily concerned about social or religious issues and tie their identity into our message. Get them to speak about the EPA regulations and practices and NOT constitutional duties and privileges

What is it that you fail to understand that the job of a judge is apply law, not push a political agenda. If a judge has a history of political activism from the bench they should not be confirmed for a federal court, I don't give a shit who nominates them.

That is a deflection. Try addressing what she said, Dante.

Namecalling. Now you have no argument. Guess who's the dupe?

You were the one discussing FDR and what he did to SCOTUS rather than addressing her points about the EPA. You then spent the rest of the debate trashing Republicans rather than addressing your own argument. You think you're slick, Dante. You're far from it.

So in short, there would be nothing wrong had this court been dominated solely by Democrats, right? This is an obvious and egregious display of hypocrisy, Dante.

What are you talking about? Everyone has a political agenda, but not everyone lets it get in the way of things...but what the fouk does this have to do with the GOP trying to deny the President the ability to nominate? :cuckoo:

The elite have you prejudging. The idea is to keep the President from filling empty seats on the DC Bench, as is his duty, not to actually vet or confirm any nominees. And you prove it so, having eaten their crap hook, line, and sinker. :laugh2:

The link is an example of what is at issue. The story is a right wing hit job meant to influence the ignorant and radical...

Dante is not reacting to the article, he is using it as an example. Now do try and follow

Funny thing is when Reagan or Bush had 8 years, I don't ever remember a serious political discussion being based on them filling court vacancies with Republicans versus Democrats.

You.are out of your league here and basically spamming the thread with nonsense and deflection

No one has the ability to deny your dear leader the ability to nominate anyone he wants, the senate does however have the right not to confirm them. I think you've been a bit too colse to the wacky tabacky, you might want to step out for some fresh air.

I don't know why you give bed wetters like him the time of day. They're too stupid to even pay attention too. It's like watching Jersey Shore.

Again with the ignorant, kneejerk reaction? The agenda is not to fight confirmation of DC Court nominees, it is to deny the President the ability to fill the vacancies.

Using phrases like 'packing the court' or 'stacking the court' is purposefully meant to give cover to a purely partisan ideological battle being waged by right wing elites that use tools like you as easily as a baby shits in a diapper. You are far too predictable and malleable (read: reactionary) to be of any real value to a serious discussion
