The current system is bound to bust. It's a matter of time. The real burden will be on the coming generation of middle-class workers/taxpayers. As the Welfare State grows and the minimum wage rises and as government imposes more and more restrictions on businesses the future looks pretty bleak for all of us.

Yes, but most importantly Republicans are against all the financial irresponsibility described above. If enough are elected there is great hope.

Unfortunately, many were elected in a landslide victory and though they haven't yet taken control of both branches of Congress the current House IS predominantly Republican yet they passed a massive spending bill regardless of their GOP status. If that's a harbinger of things to come then America's future is bleak (or worse). The best we can hope for is total governmental and economic implosion followed by a major wake-up call that draws a roster filled with the names of far better leaders who fully understand the wisdom of our Founders.

1) of course there is no reason to expect that to happen, especially given what we learned from the recent housing crisis.

2) Republicans are leading the way, as best they can, given the liberal nature of the country.

3) Any future economic issues will be reflected by slow growth, but not implosions.
