National Weather Service 'on the brink of failure' due to job vacancies

The National Weather Service (NWS) is dealing with hundreds of vacant positions in the wake of a series of extreme weather events that have plagued the U.S.

"The National Weather Service ... for the first time in its history is close to teetering on the brink of failure," the NWS's labor union, the NWS Employees Organization, said in a statement earlier this week.

Come on. Who cares? Republicans don't care about weather. Besides, don't we have tax cuts for billionaires to pay for?

From 2012, five years ago.........

Weather Service improperly shifted government funds - CNN

Looks like they weren't being properly funded back then either....... :eusa_whistle:

Talk about unfilled top jobs alone is bad enough but when one looks at the number of overall unfilled government positions an honest person (that's not you) will realize it has little to nothing to do with politics and more to do with employee retention and potential employee pool. Oh and if you've never been through the USA.com application process you should try it then you'd understand how confusing and frustrating it is and why many qualified people aren't interested. Then add the fact that in many areas the competition is fierce, hell half of all critical jobs at the VA remain unfilled because of too many openings, not enough people available.
Funding, availability within the potential pool of candidates, the application process and mismanagement (in some departments) are the problems but don't let that stop your pathetic partisan screeching, that would take all the fun out of your posts.

More disasters = more "economic opportunity" for Wall Street and the donor/"job creator" class.

"Puerto Rico has agreed to pay a reported $300 million for the restoration of its power grid to a tiny utility company that is primarily financed by a private-equity firm founded and run by a man who contributed large sums of money to President Trump, an investigation conducted by The Daily Beast has found.

Whitefish Energy Holdings, which had a reported staff of only two full-time employees when Hurricane Maria touched down, appears ill-equipped to handle the daunting task of restoring electricity to Puerto Rico’s more than 3 million residents."

$300M Puerto Rico Recovery Contract Awarded to Tiny Utility Company Linked to Major Trump Donor

This is what we call capitalism in america.

Sounds like some people need to be fired.
