Opposing Authoritarian Ideological Fundamentalism.
Dumbing down the population is an historically well proven technique for maintaining political control. Does anyone think it can't happen here?

If parents don't have the backbone to put a stop to this shit, we get what we deserve. Vigilance is also a responsibility of citizenship.

From the article:

That’s because the school administration has decided to end the long-standing tradition in favor of recognizing students during an assembly attended by all students. During the assembly, students will be given awards for academics, sports, arts and everything in between.

“We took it from an exclusive nighttime ceremony where only honors students were invited and rolled it into our end-of-the-year assembly,” Principal David Fabrizio said. “That way, everybody can celebrate their and their peers’ achievements.”

You misrepresented somewhat. Not much to get into a tizzy about.

.

Surely someone on this board thinks this is a good idea.

Right?

.

NO !
Why would we want our children not to learn about how life is unfair?
Why would you want them to not learn about what real life is all about?
Keeping fairness in the schools does not prepare them for the reality of what life is like.

The next time some know-nothing tells us that the educated have no common sense, remember this.

Common sense: its ALL about feelings and FAITH man, not about facts, or rational thinking, right?

Common sense is defined by Merriam-Webster as, "sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts.

It's about Knowledge and experience, of which the college educated have been brainwashed to not use. Just do what the books, the teachers and the professor's tell you and ignore that inner voice that says this is not right.

So wait...they ARE still getting recognized, just not at a separate ceremony? That actually seems fiscally conservative.

“The honors night, which can be a great sense of pride for the recipients’ families, can also be devastating to a child who has worked extremely hard in a difficult class but who, despite growth, has not been able to maintain a high grade point average,” Fabrizio wrote.

Devastating. Can't have that.

This is excellent!

Hopefully they'll start redistributing grades as well. That'll be sure to make the kids happy.
That's right. Happy kids who've been snookered into thinking themselves the center of the universe make generous voters with other people's money.

Meh...so they rolled everything into. One program. Really doesnt rank up there as anything.

As many high school dropouts as there are nowadays, maybe giving them an "at least you showed up" award is a good thing.

This is nothing more than the School District being 'cheap' during a period of economic hardship, and then cooking-up a variety of Bullshit Rationalizations to justify it in-public.

Transparent, but, I'm sure, the Sheeple will buy it, or simply keep their mouths shut to avoid drawing attention to themselves or rocking the boat or making waves.
