New York governor inching closer to legalizing prostitution

Actually, they are the people you want to remove from the equation through legalization.

Who is going to make the johns pay, if the pimp isn't there to enforce it? Are you proposing to make a government bureaucrat in charge of this function?

As with pot, liberals don't care who is harmed as long as their pet vice/s are made legal.

Here we have liberals pimping for the rape, kidnapping, trafficking, murder and imprisonment of women and girls worldwide.

That only happens because it's illegal.

The problem with prostitution laws, much like Prohibition 100 years ago, is that these laws are on the books, but a sizeable portion of the population ignores them, and law enforcement has better things to do than to enforce the laws on the books.

There's a reason why it's called the "World's Oldest Profession". Because the minute people learned how to measure the output of their labor in capital, someone figured out how to trade sex for some of that there capital.

I know that where I live, a fairly affluent suburb of Chicago, we have dozens of Massage Parlors, strip clubs, adult book stores and escort services. If I'm aware of them, the police most certainly are aware of them as well. They just don't bother with them.

Because it's creates convenience for them, and makes them feel that they're supporting freedom rather than its nightmarish opposite.

It has been said that liberalism is a mental disorder, and I'm more than ever inclined to agree.

The mental disorder is thinking you can create a false morality to please an imaginary Sky Pixie.

Here's the thing. There are a lot of ills that are associated with prostitution that exist ONLY because it's marginalized in the shadows.
If you legalize it, license it and regulate it, then you don't really have a problem.

It puzzles me that prostitution is even illegal at all, nationwide. I’m also puzzled as to why the left are not fighting for it to be legal, what with all the “my body, my choice” talk.

They should make prostitution legal nationwide, and company’s could hire people to be sex workers, get insurance, vacation time, paid sick leave..etc..

Of course, we’d have to get rid of many of the sex trafficking laws, because, getting hired at a sex work company in another state and crossing state lines for sex work…well, you get the point.

Anyway, at this point in the state of affairs in the USA, we should legalize prostitution, and make it an employable profession, or you can work for yourself and provide your own benefits, either way..

What do you all think?

Same goes for drugs, my body my choice. As long as you are not dui, what you do in the privacy of your home is your business.

Thoughts?
It won't make any difference.

The left doesn't fight it because it accepts the Feminist Mantra that this is another form of the exploitation of women.

Yes, legalizing it and making it another form of business would provide both tax revenues and protection for the people (not just women) working in it.

Los Angeles used to have a booming porn industry. Legalization closed those studios down in mere days. Pornography was legalized, regulated and an entire bureaucracy created to administer and inspect for licenses and permits.

How would it be exploiting women if they freely choose to do it? You can’t have “my body my choice”, but then put restrictions on it.

No.

You want to legalize the kidnapping, rape, enslavement and murder of millions of women and girls.

Because convenience.

And feels.

Dude, I get it.

You want legalized slavery for women and girls, and you dress that desire up in meaningless blather, as above.
The mental disorder is thinking you can create a false morality to please an imaginary Sky Pixie.
Ah - so objecting to the enslavement, rape, kidnapping and murder of women and girls is solely the fixation of people of faith?

Good to know, because you delusional, bra.

Or more accurately, it makes you feel better to think that what you're ACTUALLY advocating - the destruction of female lives - is somehow a noble atheistic stance.

It's not, and you're repulsive. :)
Here's the thing.
Oh yes baby!

Mansplain it to me!

Harder!

Faster!!

Garbage that you soothe yourself with.

Garbage.

But here's the thing brodude.

I REALLY do get it.

As with the horrendous damage done by pot (I assume you support its legal use as well), you don't give two shits who is harmed.

You want the vice/s you want, and you do NOT care whose lives are destroyed.

Take care. :)

Well, I guess it's a question about whether or not they are "Freely" choosing to do it if they are 1) undocumented immigrants, 2) Living in fear of their pimps, 3) Addicted or 4) minors. (Or any combination thereof.)

Legalizing it would get rid of these abuses, assuming the legalization was well-regulated.

Los Angeles used to have a booming porn industry. Legalization closed those studios down in mere days. Pornography was legalized, regulated and an entire bureaucracy created to administer and inspect for licenses and permits.

Actually... um, no. Porn was never "illegal". Or to be more precise, they've been making pornography as long as they've been making film.

Did the fact that CA put some additional regulations on the studios that were already producing it (such as STD checks) put a damper on it? Sure. but what really killed it was that any idiot with an I-phone and a willing partner could make home porn.

Oh totally.

And let's make slavery legal again as well.

Why not?

If you are going to repeat mantras, there's no point having a conversation. Since most of your post was just repeating your mantra like a good little cultist, I can skip ahead.

Garbage.

Anti-pot laws are even stupider than the prostitution laws.

Some day, you need to sit down and learn the history of Prohibition. Or better yet, here's a nice little cartoon that will explain it to you.

Projection; this is what you're doing, cultist.

See above.
Anti-pot laws are even stupider than the prostitution laws.
I KNEW it.

YOUR vice/s uber alles. :)
Some day, you need to sit down and learn the history of Prohibition.
Some day, you need to develop a conscience.
Or better yet, here's a nice little cartoon that will explain it to you.

Good to know where you get your information.

I guess you won't be reading the Harvard Law School piece I just posted.

I would never advocate anyone being forced into it. Like you said, if you make it legal, then a lot of the negative issues go away, like the pimps, and possibly the drug abuse, granted, if someone wanted to take drugs, why stop them, as long as they are not harming anyone else, who are we to say what someone does to their own body?

Oh totally.

Because slavery is bad and implied someone being forced into servitude. Legalizing prostitution means people (women AND men) who want to sell sex for money would be free to do so if they choose it. Again, “my body, my choice”, right?

Oh sure.

Because privation, addiction, desperation, innocence/ignorance and mental illness - among other related causes - have NOTHING to do with this "choice."

:)

The New York Times also says:

Melanie [a young woman of color & trafficking survivor], now 27, warns that the result of full decriminalization, including allowing pimps and brothels, would be more trafficking of victims who are overwhelmingly Black and brown, or coming out of foster care, or L.G.B.T.Q. youth or others who are marginalized. Indeed, one large global study found that legalization is associated with more trafficking, not less.

Bottom line?

Liberal Democrats haven't changed.

They supported slavery 150+ years ago, and they support it now.

Legalization has never gotten rid of abuses of any kind. The very fact that you imagine well regulated guarantees abuses. Just better hidden. The minute you have regulation to the illicit you create a parallel. No. There will be both. Side by side.

in the early days of internet porn yes, every guy with a passable girlfriend stripped her down. Then came the big boys like Bluebird and Vivid. Crushed them all.

That's what happened to Amsterdam's legal prostitution industry.

Yup.

Democrats on gun control:

"If just ONE child's life is saved..."

Democrats on legalized prostitution:

"It'll cause a MASSIVE increase in kidnapping, trafficking, rape, imprisonment & murder of women and girls? Meh - we want our vice!"
