We don't pay for exercising our civil rights. The protest WAS a protest and WAS peaceful.

While the Democrats are flaunting their disdain for the Constitution and the law, lets not forget who we are. Americans have the right to civil protest in order to redress grievances to the government.

Obviously, someone needs to explain the first Amendment to the mayor.

The Bicycle race people invited the cops, BLM didn't. You can't bill someone for your presense if it wasn't wanted or needed.

^^^ Because circumstances can change at anytime, its good to have this thing call initiative when invitation is not present especially when not everyone has the stones or the ability to possess initiative and that right there is the reason why law enforcement is so important. They are around for those who can not take up for themselves or anyone else for whatever reason is on their plates.
