I did not say he should retain his job, but it is not up to the state congress to make that call, it is up to the people that hired him. There are provisions in place for them to do so if they choose to.

Another person who obviously didn't bother to read the OP: The Republicans are calling on the governor to SUSPEND Sheriff Israel pending the outcome of an independent investigation. Good grief, how bad does a Democrat have to screw up before you people will put the public good ahead of your politics?

Watching that Sheriff on that CNN suckfest of a show blame everyone but the FBI and the Sheriffs and watching him slam the NRA made me sick but when I heard his deputy's hid behind their cars while the local police ran past them to enter the school has convinced me that the Broward county sheriff office needs new leadership...
Let his termination send a message to other sheriff's and chiefs of police to take the threats from students seriously and to train their deputy's better in active shooter hostage situations...

In response, a Sheriff in a conservative county in California says he and his department will enforce no such ban. The very liberal Dem legislature calls on the governor to suspend him from office.
