the food basket of the us is in drought......milk, beef prices are going to sky rocket as ranchers sell off herds.....if you can plant a garden.....however much you can plant in the land you have....grow simple things....squash etc, it is going to be a bad summer for the produce in stores.....stock up on almonds..they freeze well....almond trees are taking a hard hit....i would stock up on whatever you can at this time

just a heads up...food prices are going to sky rocket...did i mention that?

Good advice.

What with the draught hitting CALIFORNIA so badly, the cost of food is likely to skyrocket

I'm thinkining of putting in some raised beds this year.

Its also a good way to know what you're eating. Even if you buy organic, you can't guarantee that it is.

And dang! Picking it from your own garden just tastes better. We've been growing a scrap garden inside all winter. That has worked well and its fun to get free organic produce.

Even so, we don't plant as much as we would if we didn't have really excellent organic produce from nearby Mennonites.
