Obama needs to execute an EO to protect the rights of people to use the First Amendment right

This is an example of the proper procedure for handling a heckler:

University of Iowa police arrested a man accused of throwing tomatoes at Donald Trump at a rally in Iowa City on Tuesday night.

In a news release, UI officials said Andrew Joseph Alemao, 28, was observed throwing two tomatoes at Trump, the real-estate mogul and candidate for the Iowa caucuses.

Alemao is charged with disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $625 or 30 days in jail.

He was taken into custody by the Secret Service and the UIPD after throwing the tomatoes, the release said. He was taken to the Johnson County Jail Tuesday night and released at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, according to jail officials.

The President does not have authority to order local authorities to arrest people. The President is not a dictator, but Jackson is advocating that he exceed his authority and conscript state and local law enforcement agencies to squelch protests and dissent against political candidates. It seems to me that Jackson ought to study the Constitution and learn about the limits of government power.

You are wrong....as usual.

No fights broke out until the event was cancelled. Try again.
The democrat supporters were waiting quietly until Trump started to speak. Then they were going to rush the stage for whatever reason. Possibly to assassinate him.

Freedom of assembly is a 1st Amendment right. The one you conveniently forget until RW'ers want to assemble.
So you stood up for the cattlemen that were arrested; even the ones as far away as Delta, Utah.

The cattlemen were not arrested for exercising their right to peaceably assemble. They were arrested for committing crimes. They are now entitled to all the protections the Constitution provides for persons accused of crimes.

People have a constitutional right to protest

As long as they peaceably assemble there is no reason to stop them

I encourage more people to protest Trump
There is not peaceable assemble when they occupy the room where the speech is being held. Fights with Trump supporters broke out and they refused to leave until the even was cancelled. That was not just protesting.

Were they armed like the Bundys? Did they bring snipers?

AvgGuy: Your dramatics are noted. There is no conspiracy among "democrat supporters" to possibly assassinate anyone. Trump is a proponent of hate speech, which has a polarizing effect on people. Accordingly, Trump should expect hecklers (and tomato throwers) to show up at public rallies where he takes the podium and spews divisive hate into the universal sound waves. I have no desire to attend one of his rallies. I will heckle him on this discussion board. And if the moderators of this privately-owned discussion board choose to delete my posts, they have not violated my constitutionally secured right to free expression. The First Amendment does not apply to them because they are not government agents. That's the point that eludes the author of the opening post.

From Obama I would expect his EO to take the form of a mandate that these groups protesting last night be provided equal time to the media access being granted the Donald by the broadcast networks and cable.

It stops when they do not allow their opponent to speak in a venue they had rented. Freedom of assembly is guaranteed when it does not interfere with anyone else. Those thugs could have assembled OUTSIDE the building so each side had their rights allowed.

No one stopped Trump from speaking. He never tried to speak. He canceled because then he knew he could play the victim by innuendo.

Boy am I getting tired of blocking annoying sig pics.

Hate-mongers and supporters of hate-mongers might assault protesters. If they do, then they should be arrested for assault. Disorderly conduct is wrong; assault is wrong. Two wrongs don't make a right.

But Trump himself has invited these things through his divisive hate speech. Trump has even gone even further and has incited violence and assaults on protesters:

On February 1, as protesters interrupted a rally in Iowa, he (Trump) encouraged supporters to "knock the crap out of them," and pledged to pay their legal fees.

When a protester disrupted Trump's speech in Las Vegas, the brash billionaire said he would like to "punch him in the face."

...

But Trump's rallies are known for being rambunctious, and that seeped over into violence on Wednesday night in North Carolina when a 78-year-old whit man in a cowboy hat punched a black protester in the face.

Trump has repeatedly incited violence and invited his supporters to knock the crap out of people and noted his willingness to do it himself. Thus, when he says "I don't want to see anybody get hurt," he is clearly lying.

But here comes Jackson running to his defense, pitch fork in hand, and demanding that presidential powers be exceeded to protect Frankenstein from the monster of his own creation.

And Debra doesn't believe in the First Amendment for both sides, just the sides of those who are losing so drastically. Chicago demonstrated just what we don't want... Thugs silencing our candidates. Good job, Debra. I would guess Debra doesn't see anything wrong with Hillary lying again and again. Bernie just wants to give millennials free everything. They will not learn to pay for themselves if they continue to back socialists and liars.

The First Amendment is a restraint on the government. The government isn't restraining Trump's speech. I'm not restraining your speech. Post away. Guess wrong all you want. Deflect some more.
