WEST TISBURY, Mass. (AP) — President Barack Obama says he's having a "great time as always" on vacation on Martha's Vineyard.

Obama took his wife, Michelle, and daughters Malia and Sasha on a late morning bike ride Friday through the Manuel F. Correllus State Forest in West Tisbury.

The president made the comment during a brief portion of the ride that the White House allowed the news media to see.

In the evening, the family went to Oak Bluffs for dinner at senior adviser Valerie Jarrett's rental home overlooking Nantucket Sound.

Oak Bluffs has fireworks Friday night.

The White House says Obama was briefed earlier in the day on the violence in Egypt by national security adviser Susan Rice, who is traveling with the president

Glad Obama has his priorities straight ......

How special. He took peoples' minds off the fact that they may never find a job and that more people will end up in the unemployment line because of Obamacare. He temporarily made us forget that congress doesn't want anything to do with the shitty Obamacare because it's only good enough for the little people. He took our minds off the crappy economy and the fact that he holds the record for longest recovery in history. He took our minds off Benghazi, spying and government agencies going after enemies of the state. For a moment, we didn't worry about al Qaeda gaining strength and making new threats or about all the Christians being slaughtered and churches being burned down by the peaceful Muslims.

If he is having a good time, that is all that counts. I'm sure I speak for most when I say it's great that he can so easily spend the money we worked so hard for. Even though the future is uncertain for us middle class folks, at least he is having a great vacation.

Thank goodness he stopped the White House tours for school children so he would have enough money for another vacation. Meanwhile, veterans may not get paid and the White House remains closed to the public because of the sequester.
