Of course, lawful citizens have been disarmed, but they were never the issue. As we can see here, only criminals will have guns and will continue to be the demographic committing the mass shootings.

There were 231 charges laid by Victoria Police against City of Hume residents in the 12 months to the end of June, up almost 200 per cent in a decade.

Meanwhile, the City of Casey, which includes the suburbs of Cranbourne and Berwick on the south-eastern fringe of Melbourne, wasn’t far behind – it had 226 charges laid on residents.

Note that every rural farm/ranch in Australia has all sorts of long guns and legal handguns.
The Government doesn't bother these rural folks. It's only in the cities that guns are being confiscated.
