In response to the latest mass shooting during his presidency, President Obama is seriously considering circumventing Congress with his executive authority and imposing new background-check requirements for buyers who purchase weapons from high-volume gun dealers.

Under the proposed rule change, dealers who exceed a certain number of sales each year would be required to obtain a license from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and perform background checks on potential buyers.
Obama weighs expanding background checks through executive authority

Short version:
If you are a private person and sell 50 guns a year, the Obama wants to force you to get a FFL.

Problem is, the law is very clear on this, and this EO runs contrary to that law.

Further., this EO cannot be enforced except through universal registration of guns.

Why is it that anti-gun loons keep pushing for things that can only be enforced thru universal registration of guns?

Don't sell guns to criminals and crazies

It is your responsibility if you sell one gun or a thousand

I'm just hoping a Republican gets in and pulls this stuff on the dems/libs/commies.

Well see how they sit back and take it without a whimper

It is obvious Congress will do nothing about background checks......time for Obama to step in

If it helps to lessen the number of guns in circulation then that's a good thing. It is far too easy for criminals to get guns in this country.

Funny that you think The Obama's EO will have any effect on either.

Way to go Obama it's about fucking time, this should have been done after the Gifford's incident almost 5 years ago..

Funny how the sewer rats on the right want anyone with a pulse come into a gun shop and buy some POS gun, but you need a photo ID to vote..

Why doesn't congress set up a special committee to investigate all of the mass shootings the last 5 years, , oh yea my bad they have more important things to do like Benghazi, and Hillary's e-mails..

The right wing sewer rats want everyone to carry, OK then Democrats should see to it Muslims, inner city Blacks, and Hispanics all arm up too, cheers..

Then I guess you shouldn't care.
Says he who blindly accepts any any all idea for further gun control as a "good thing".
Considering there might be as many as 400 million guns in this country, and nobody has any idea where most of them are, I'd say probably yes that most gun control measures are a good thing.

400,000,000 guns in the US
8142 gun related murders (2014)
99.99797% of the guns in the US are not involved in a murder.
That is, for every gun used in a murder, more that 49,000 are not.
Your position holds no water.

There are far more gun crimes in this country than murders. Check on that.

And btw, if I quoted you similar statistics about black people you would dismiss them immediately. I know because I've seen you do it.

That which I cited is more than enough to negate your point; If you would like to cite the % of gun in the US that are not used in a gun-related crime in response, be my guest -- I won't do your homework for you

Nah I don't care enough. I think I'll just use your numbers to point out that current gun control measures must be doing a good job, for the gun crime rate to be so low. Some more gun control can do nothing but improve those numbers.
