Obama would rather spend military money on foodstamps

Former vice president Dick Cheney went on Fox's "Hannity" show last night to discuss the recent plans to reduce the Army to levels not seen since 1940 — through a reduction in personnel and removing a class of warplanes from the field — in an effort to cut budgets after a decade of war, calling the decision "over the top." He told host Sean Hannity that President Obama would "much rather spend the money on food stamps than he would on a strong military or support for our troops.”

Cheney says Obama would rather have food stamps than a strong military

What Cheney says is true...
What jobs are the 120,000 or so troops going to find after they are cut by Obama...?
The economy is still in the dumps.....so many will have to resort to foodstamps....
We will have more unemployed people down-in-the-dumps instead of proudly serving our country....

So now you like big government?

 Man..this is so confusing.

Prefers food stamps to military?

No-brainer that.

People in the military tend not to vote Democrat.

People on food stamps are almost obliged to vote Democrat.

So downsizing the military hugely and abruptly represents a double win:

Once the victims are no longer military and dependent on food stamps, given The Big Zeros war on jobs, they will cease to vote against and not just not vote but be compelled to vote Democrat if they want to keep eating.

He needs must, however, make sure each one dumped onto the streets leaves his or her weapon behind.

Yes we can. However, it needs to be put towards paying off our debt.
Lower spending, Raise taxes, and Grow the economy. There is no way (good) out without doing all three, at the very same time.

We could of course just let the house of cards fall. That seems likely based on our politics.

Well.. except you only want to raise taxes on SOME.... showing the support for unequal treatment by government is OK when it benefits you and your cause...

And raising taxes does not grow the economy

Yeah..it most certainly does.

Even your big hero, Ronnie, put in one of the largest tax hikes in US history.

Eclipsed by the one Obama and the Dems passed. Thanks.

So what you are saying is that our military is nothing more than a jobs program?
I guess that's what happens when you base your economy on perennial war.
Maybe, we should have used our resources on the space program or finding an alternate fuel so that we could actually tell the Arabs what to do with their oil.

no....but the military is an employer.....and in that respect Obama is treating the military just like other employers.....i.e. fuck them.....except those with Unions....

BO has also gutted the space program.....and we have enormously abundant natural gas to tell the Arabs to take a hike...NG is also clean energy but it is only last month BO loosened (maybe) the screws a tad...calling it a "bridge fuel"....we get to wait and see...while we could have been developing our energy for years making us independent...not to mention creating millions of new jobs...

just about everything he does makes America weaker...

Actually no.. his overall tax rates reduced.. even if tehre was wiggling up from the absolute bottom...

And it also does not mean I supported everything 'Ronnie' did... as he still supported progressive rates and brackets

Actually yeah.

Top rates were reduced.

Ronnie raised them on everyone else and created brand spanking new taxes where there were none before.

Like on unemployment and tips.

It was "spreading the wealth" from the bottom up.

:eusa_hand:

That's such bullshit.

Obama kept the tax rates the same even though they were suppose to expire some time ago..for a very long time.

Then he raised them on a few people.

And that raise? Was really just letting the Bush tax cuts expire.

Still? The tax rates are lower than when Clinton was in the seat.

A strong military is paramount. The three greatest drivers of the debt need to be cut, before we weaken our defense. However, we don't need to be meddling, and getting embroiled in third world shit holes.

If the democrats were compelled to make meaningful cuts - medicaid, medicare, and social security would be the top candidates. Of course Obama would rather weaken us on both fronts; military cuts, entitlement expansion.

No nation has ever cut its military and achieved greatness.

That graph is ridiculous. Please provide link to page that came from.

Our military is the same size as the next 25 nations combined, and 24 of those are allies. We can spare the cash.

So, we put thousands of soldiers on unemployment, cause thousands more to be laid off by defence contractors and added to the unemplyment rolls, and weaken our ability to protect american interests-------------brilliant

Our ability to protect ourselves will not be weakened at all.

The 120,000 have been well trained and have the GI bill and other benefits.

They will do well.

But for you neo-cons I have no sympathy.

So let's end this social engineering by the government and make the service personnel find jobs in the private sector.

This will improve their personal responsibility and accountability for themselves.

What's ridiculous is that entitlement spending is crowding out legitiamte functions of government. And all the while the LEft is calling for cutting defense spending. Attention: Defense Spending has been cut. Let's hope we dont face a major war or it wont go well.

Part of the Statist grand plan.

You realize you're making a Krugman, Keynesian economic argument here, right? If the government doesn't employ them, who will??
